Bursting from the gate like a racehorse, this Janglepop thoroughbred chimes at every possible corner with hooks aplenty. Vocals harmonise throughout in typical ‘Shop Window’ fashion. I Run is the next single to be released from The Shop Window's much anticipated third album ‘Daysdream’ - A double LP consisting of sixteen tracks, due out in May 2024. The ‘Days’ side is filled with upbeat  Janglepop, and the ‘Dream’ side with a more melancholic Dreampop/Shoegaze angle to it.

James Francis was the lead singer of the cult band Strange Ones. He disappeared in 1993 from the island of Losse in Scotland where he was recording his debut album.

In 2022, James’ tapes and diaries were given by James’ parents to the band Keening. Keening had discovered and fallen in love with the Strange Ones' records and learned about James’ disappearance. The original demos themselves, even with digital restoration are unlistenable as James distorted the recordings and overdubbed them with found sounds from the island. Instead of replicating the songs, Keening decided to write their own music inspired by James’ diary, the mystery surrounding his disappearance, his lyrics, and the island of Losse. James’ edited diary is included here for interest and with the permission of his family.

‘Broken’ serves as a poignant exploration of the tumultuous state of being that follows a relationship's collapse. Through visceral, wounded vocals, Naomi narrates the experience of processing betrayal, capturing the raw pain and vulnerability of heartbreak. The song's heavy synths and dark undertones create a sonic landscape that mirrors the depth of emotion conveyed in the lyrics.
‘Broken’ features bass-heavy synths and a haunting drum machine, creating a sense of entrapment that mirrors the emotional landscape of the song. Naomi's expressive vocals, inspired by artists like Angel Olsen, add to the song's visceral intensity, while simple guitar lines provide a sense of intimacy and vulnerability.

“There was a rumor going around about a live-action Power Puff Girls series being made by Diablo Cody. It was going to be set in the future and have them portrayed as adults looking back on their lives as crime-fighting little girls who missed out on being kids. I grew up in the ‘90s and PPG was one of my favorite cartoons, so I was really excited about this. One day Emile [Milgrim] and I were talking about how cool it would be to write the theme song for the show, so 'Would Be' was the result of that. 

It took about 20 minutes to write. At the time I felt like my best years were flying away before my eyes and I used that as inspiration for what it might feel like to be an aging ex-superhero.” – Ale Campos
