On our 38th episode of SBCLTR RADIO, we feature a set by the talented DEAD_TONES. Kamel Omais, better known as Dead-Tones, is a Parisian DJ/Producer who moved to LA to further pursue his career in music years ago. His production are extremely varied yet aim at “keeping the warmth of a musical past”. Being originally Lebanese growing up in Ivory Coast, he finds influences from a wide variety of genres ranging from synth pioneers such as Vangelis and Tangerine Dream as well as rhythm masters such as Fela Kuti or even Fairuz, a symbol of the Lebanese musical heritage. We are thrilled to invite him for an exclusive set. Press play and enjoy the ride!

'Forever's over is the first collaboration by French-Lebanese Dead-Tones and Iran-American Of The Moon. 

The two are close friends outside the studio and share a lot of moments and emotions, which easily spilled into their melodic collaborative production, captivating both of their passion's into one result.

Sum Over Histories proudly presents the next volume of 'Path Integral,' a compilation showcasing a diverse range of artists and styles, bound by a shared dedication to deep, evocative sounds.
 
'New Beginnings' blends nostalgia with optimism, driven by a warm SH-101 bassline that pulses in a tight 1/8 pattern, setting the heartbeat of the track. The crispy, sampled drums echo from the golden era of the 70s, bringing an earthy grit to the modern production. Kindisch Podcast #018 - Dead-Tones

Kamel, better known as Dead-Tones, is a Parisian DJ/Producer who recently moved to the City of Angels to further his music career. Having graduated from two of the best music schools in Los Angeles, Point Blank and Dubspot, he has crafted a sound for himself that stands out from the rest. 

"I'm an analog lover born in a digital world". This statement pretty much sums up Dead-Tones workflow, as a walk through the jungle of wires in his studio will leave the average bedroom producer baffled. His studio mastery has opened up the next chapter of his career, as he now works for the highly decorated, dance-floor guru, Guy Gerber.  

Dead-Tones talents have shown up on top underground labels such as Kindisch, Motek, Clouds Above, Us and Them records, Re:sound, Dialtone, Recs, and Gooseneck Records, as well as his own podcast series that he hosts coined “Eargasm”. Zenify Music is more than pleased to showcase Dead-Tones for our 22nd edition.

Eargasm Podcast #1 : Cloud Doctor

While everything may now seem digitized, life breaks down to the analog connections... Much like brothers from opposite sides of the planet connecting musically in ways we never could've preconceived. As such, our second release is very special to us. SSS002 features Producer Dead-Tones at his finest; that is Kemel Omais, serving as the pilot of this soulful journey through sound. What starts light and fluttery - a beginning that exemplifies the cross-pollination of styles he has choicely honed from Abidjan to Paris to Beirut to LA - becomes a voyage that is but a dream, seemingly traveling through memory. Building layers upon layers, like musical destinations criss-crossing a map, this offering owes itself to a life-long collection of culture and experience. Of Possibility, perhaps. The Here and Now. And with a sleight of hand, our breath is a capsule in time capturing this contrast - the inspired spiritual dance beneath the stars. There is a beauty oft missed by our constant drive that Dead-Tones seems to recapture in these moments of transmuted, transformed, inebriated, recalcitrance. This siren song starts as an epic tale unraveling like the tattered pages of the Iliad and ends as ceremonial bones divining us as inquisitors responsible for our own mysterious futures. The possibilities are endless and beautiful when music is allowed to rip apart the fabric of existence - one to which we think we're stitched, when in fact we are the stars that illuminate the board, each of us more intimately connected than we can ever know. We are but muted tones, raising the dead with our silent songs, beautifully charmed versions of our previously risen forms.

Born and raised by a Lebanese/French family on the African continent in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, reggae is the genre that first spoke to Kemel Omais the most - for its simplicity and efficiency, but most importantly the message. Years later after feeling the harmonious connections in spite of worldly differences at a Sasha show in Beirut, Kemel decided to learn beat-matching and DJ'ing. A couple months later Dead-Tones was born along with a monthly podcast series "EARGASM". After winning a DJ competition to spin at "Marvellous Island Paris," Kemel moved to Los Angeles to start studying music production, sound design, mixing, and mastering. He has acquired some unique sound design abilities from two of the best music schools in LA - Dubspot & Point Blank - and even landed a residency at Guy Gerber's Rumors Ibiza. Kemel's music takes you on a soul moving journey through deep, dark, melodic, and tribal sounds. His production includes a variety of heavy synth progressions and dark driven bass lines with a heavy touch of melancholy.

Being a studio-head and analog collector, Dead-Tones has been able to release tracks and EPs on top labels such as Kindisch and All Day I Dream. His latest EP "Delusions of Grandeur" is out now on Bar 25 Music, featuring seven outstanding exclusive songs, perfect for a journey through the different shades of melodic techno & house music. The EP also features remixes by Rafael Cerato, Den Ishu, and Marco Tegui providing their own diverse atmospheric take on Dead-Tones' originals.
