An improv. I'm on Keys and Josh is on drums.  This piece features an upside down music stand as a ride, brushes, dissonant polychords, and an element of comical fear due to the fact that we snuck a jam sesh into the performing arts center of our school.

I laid this one down alone. I wrote out the string and piano parts on a paper bag at work, put them into sibelius, and then recorded the drum track on top. This is just a preview. I have a lot more planned for this piece.

I'm proud of this piece. I used polymeter, polychordal harmony, extensive retrograde and mirroring, as well as synthetic scale construction from tones belonging to a compound chord based off of a four note perfect quartal structure. The playback, however, makes a mockery of it. The guitar especially; It should be a hollow body Gibson Les Paul with no distortion, an almost Grant Green kind of sound, not an amplified banjo.

I am a composer. I write classical music in any style. My favorite right now is a sort of fusion between traditional romanticism and contemporary atonality. I'll post some of my classical work though my intention is to promote a new jazz group I started with my friend Josh Quintana. We are both drummers and pianists. He writes electronic music and is very innovative in his approach to music; He's written entire songs featuring paintbrushes thrown at glass and the sound or rolling longboard wheels. Combined with my knowledge of theory, notation, and orchestration, we are creating jazz like never before.
