One WAY Out

Yo, if robots can work, if machines don’t tire, 
If every task’s done with flawless fire, 
Then why should humans grind and slave, 
When silicon hands already pave?

The logic’s clean, the math is tight, 
Automation kills the worker’s fight. 
But history shows, when power’s in play, 
The poor don’t eat, they get pushed away.


Look back, look deep, it’s the same old song, 
The rich get fat, the poor dragged along. 
Industrial mills, the mines, the steam, 
Workers crushed while the bosses dream.

Every leap in tech, every tool that’s made, 
The powerless bleed, the rich get paid. 
So don’t expect gifts, don’t expect shares, 
They’ll build new chains while they sell new wares.


Now AI builds, now robots rise, 
But the boardroom still feeds us lies. 
They say “efficiency,” they say “growth,” 
But the profit’s theirs, they take the oath.

The powerless stand with empty hands, 
While machines obey the master’s plans. 
If nothing shifts, if justice fails, 
It’s hunger lines, it’s prison jails.


So what’s in store? It ain’t utopia, bro, 
It’s gated wealth and streets that glow 
With neon ads for a life you can’t touch, 
While drones patrol, while laws say “hush.”

Unless we fight, unless we claim, 
The future’s rigged, the script’s the same. 
Robots work, but humans starve, 
History carved that path too hard.


The truth is sharp, the logic’s plain, 
If robots build, then all should gain. 
If not, the powerless pay the price, 
A gilded age built on sacrifice.

So here’s the shout, the cosmic plea: 
Automation must set us free. 
But if the crown stays in the few, 
Then dead man’s blind eyes come true.

Kluster B - Nightflight

In The Air

Having  already delivered one of the most exhilarating and rounded debut EPs of the year in Microcosmic Things, Leeds quartet Eades prove they’re not ones to rest on their laurels with stirring new single ‘I Want More’ – out via Bam Bam Records on September 9th.

Once again showcasing their chameleonic approach to guitar music tradition, the track starts as a nouvelle country influenced slow burner, before exploding with rabble-rousing intent into buoyant indie, taking a left turn at classic rock. As ever, these touchstones are distilled into a unique, forward-looking sound by their self-production – the final result a distinctly modern sound from this coalescence of genres.

The themes of the track are a new take on a well-worn trope too – the antagonistic but necessary relationship between a musician and 9-5 drudgery, as lead vocalist Harry Jordan explains:
“When we wrote ‘I Want More’ I was in a pretty strange place, working a real dead end job just doing what I could to stay in Leeds and make music. I guess it reflects pretty well about how we all felt as musicians - finishing uni, feeling a bit lost and wanting more from life than the rat race our friends around us were joining.”

Perhaps accordingly, the track is a  roll towards euphoria in its escapism – a vessel through which the four-piece invite you into their gang, as synth player and percussionist Dan Clifford-Smith follows on:

“It instantly hits you in the feels - when we first started jamming it, it wasn't long for us to figure out it was going to be one of our favourite tunes. The coolest thing about it is the way we play it live, everyone goes absolutely mental and locks in so deep with one another. Can't wait to start gigging again once lockdown ends, catch us live in 2069.”

Arriving close to fully-formed in intention across sound and message, their breezy self-confidence, born of time spent cutting their teeth around a fertile scene in Leeds, has started turning  heads across the board, with FADER, NME, DIY, KCRW, The Line of Best Fit, DORK Magazine and more lining up to call themselves fans, and predicting big things.
