‘Dials’ delves into a grittier and more aggressive rendition of his sound, carefully blurring the lines between techno, broken beats and dubstep through innovative production techniques, whilst preserving his distinctive intricate and textured style. Despite the exploration of diverse influences, the release doesn't shy away from the allure of the original dubstep sound, seamlessly integrating its essence to serve its purpose within a club environment. Amidst its pulsating intensity and overall grimness, this excursion remains a poignant tribute to the post-industrial ambiance of Greater Manchester.

Our featured premiere ‘I’ll Know’ rides on dark grooves of dystopian acidic squelches before immersing in thick ridged breakdowns of breaks & bass.

Following up on a cracker split single last year, Overload Liverpool jumps into 2024 firing on all cylinders with a 5 shooter of freaked-out electro, warm house, deep dub cuts, and gorgeous ambient.

Firstly, Liverpool-based label boss Morrison highlights two of his distinct and dissociative styles. On the front end of the A-side, his The Motorist alias provides us with a freaked-out formant-filtered electro that’s bursting at the lips. On the back end, a deep yet bright house cut from his The Cyclist alias, with warm warbling synths layered over his Wurlitzer electric piano and suitably grooved and jaunty beats.

To kick off the deeper B-side of the 12”, Wax Tek, a founder of the Liverpool Soundsystem crew Polyone Audio, hits us right in the chest with his dubbed-out breakbeat wonder, Get Set, which diverges through Balearic, bass music, a delirious breakdown, and hard-hitting breakbeats.

Deeper still, the second B-side from Puncta, another Liverpool-based artist, who last year came to light with their release on Sputnik One’s N-Face, dives into the deep Arctic seas with Snow Crab, an exercise in dubbed-out electro-style bass music.

Finally, Belfast-based Aaron Thomas brings the 12” EP to a fitting closure with Concert², which, washing over the listener, dances like opulent drapes with its ethereal synths that crash to and fro.

PREMIERE: Hedchef & Doctor Jeep - Orders of Magnitude

​​Neon Pumps (Lucy White) is a multi-genre DJ & Producer based in Stroud. She brings a bouncy, energetic sound to her DJ sets, spanning deep house, disco, acid, UKG, DnB, 160, Jungle, Techno & Speedbass - with a sprinkling of pop throughout.

Since beginning to play out professionally in 2023 Neon Pumps has been booked alongside acts including:  Marshall Jefferson, Deekline, Nicky Blackmarket, DJ Queen Bee, 4AM Kru Horse Meat Disco, DMX Krew, Denham Audio, Nemone Metaxas, Echo Juliet, Steve Davis & Kavus Torabi as well as performing as Boss Morris DJs with the all-female morris collective bringing morris dancing to the mainstream through performances at Glastonbury and The Brit Awards. She also hosts a monthly radio show on Red Rebel Fm.

Neon Pumps started producing music also in 2023, entering her first remix competition to remix Yarni’s track Red Meander and winning a release on the final EP of remixes. As a producer her sound is an evolving melange of influences from her early life including 80s pop, Motown, Bluegrass, Eddie Grant, Ska Punk, Balearic House,  90s House, Acid and Hardcore, Drum and Bass, Jungle, Ambient Electronica, Psytrance and Dubstep.  

Her debut album Cat Nav will be released on all major platforms on 15th June 2024 and comprises a curious exploration of sounds, textures and genres spanning jungle, breaks, techno, electro and ambient. High energy genre-bending electronica with deep cosmic glitch bleepery, occasional ethereal driftage, eclectic vocal forms, ocean/jungle ambience, twinkly bits, surprises and psychedelic rock guitar. 

The spirit of Cat Nav is journeying to a destination via an indirect but interesting route with unexpected detours and discoveries along the way. The name references a nickname given to her by friend Peter Graal (who also designed the artwork for the album cover) after a meandering 8 hour trip across the UK to a festival with Lucy on map duties.
