I have been attending this festival for almost 5 years now. I have felt at home from the very beginning. Together with these wonderful people, I have walked the path to get here. To experience this project, to see how it grow and feel as a part of it and develop personally with it is an indescibable feeling. 
I feel nothing but infinite gratitude. 
This year I have again received huge trust and the honor to play the closing set of my favorite festival!

Unfortunately, the full 6hrs of my closing wasn´t recorded, so I decided to upload only the first half. 
Thanks to everyone who made this monday so special for me.
Thanks to the gorgeous weather... I also bangedout some sunshine music, but the typical melancholic steffi-sound didn´t come to short. ;)

Auf der Suche nach dem nächsten, außergewöhnlichen Aufterhour Sound springen wir heute über den Atlantik nach Montreal, Kanada. Dort begegneten wir Mike Haddad, einem begnadeten DJ und Blogger bei https://soundcloud.com/husasounds, der uns mit seinen Sets seit jeher zu überzeugen weiß.

Seine Aufnahme zeichnet im Grunde genau das aus, was wir von ihm erwartet haben. Nämlich Lush Sound in Perfektion. Und das ist keineswegs übertrieben. Dezente Bässe treffen hier nämlich auf ausgeklügelte Groovearrangements, welche immer wieder von sinnlichen, fast schon melancholischen Melodien begleitet werden. Dazu immer wieder Passagen, die treibend wirken, ohne es aber zu sein. Irgendwie hypnotisch, minimalistisch und doch organisch zugleich. Schwer zu beschreiben, aber einmalig was Mike für einen Stil hat. Hierzulande haben wir tatsächlich kaum jemanden ähnlichen in den letzten zehn Jahren gehört. Manchmal erinnert uns das Ganze auch hier und da an alte Platten von John Roberts, Pantha Du Prince und Moomin. Ist es aber im Detail dann doch nicht. Sondern Musik, die einen unaufdringlich zum Verweilen und Lauschen einlädt. Es macht ungemein Spaß sich auf sein Soundverständnis einzulassen. Denn ohne dass man es bemerkt, ist die Aufnahme auch schon vorbei. Übrig bleibt ein latentes, aber optimistisches Gefühl von Freude und Traurigkeit. Definitiv zeitlose Musik, die nicht nur auf einer entspannten Afterhour funktioniert. 

Schnallt euch an… Ich kann mich nur wiederholen, aber es erwartet euch eine Reise, die wie gemacht für eine Afterhour ist. 

Vielen Dank Mike für dieses besondere Set. Umwerfend tiefenergreifend und erfrischend gut. Chapeu.

Anbei noch seine Stellungnahme zu unseren Fragen:

• What are your musical influences? What is your musical background?

I love playing many shades of underground music - and my sound has definitely been influenced by the artists I grew up listening to. A few genres are very close to my heart. Hip-Hop, Jazz, Soul & Funk. 
Electronic and House music came later; and my tastes shifted over time. It's now been a few years - and as a DJ at this point, I gravitate more towards a deep minimal, underground sound. 
 
• What makes good "afterhour"?

For me, the setting, and context is important. A thumping, dark, warmed up club deserves one type of sound. I would prefer a dark, minimal based, deep tech atmosphere.
The afterhour sound that most resonates with me is deep and rolling. It is a purpose driven vibe where we can still feel a journey on the dancefloor. Groove, and Depth.

• Do you have any thoughts you would like to share about your set?

I've always believed that a DJ should play standing up, because it simply doesn't seem appropriate otherwise. Until I sat down and played...

Sofa & Beats is a project in which our invited guests play from the sofa, where the participants also have seats at their disposal and the dance floor itself is transformed more into a living room. Artists are freed from the pressure of playing for the dancefloor, they have the opportunity to pull out songs that are not usually played. Participants decide for themselves whether they listen from the couch or want to dance, we provide the right atmosphere and selected music, not only from Poland. 

The Krakow edition (10.12.2022) will feature:
Doob and Doyle Shepherd from Germany
Ezeo from Iceland
and Polish support with Cetlot, Orion Orient and Deaf Can Dance

We start at 20:00 in the space of the former well-known club-café, where the artistic crème de la crème of Krakow met for many years. We would like to encourage people to join us much earlier, we start at 20:00. For some, it's a chance to leave the house earlier than midnight for a party.
We will play until the end. 😎

Despite being born with a significant hearing loss,
he embarked on his DJing adventure nearly 20 years ago, in 2005. He immersed himself in sounds from a young age, perceiving them somewhat differently than others. Turning his limitation into an advantage, he utilized his exceptionally developed imagination and sensitivity to interpret sounds through other senses.

He is a resident DJ at the 'Piekło Nad Niebem' club in Warsaw, where he hosts the event series 'OUTER SPICE', and is the curator of the 'WATA CUKROWA' stage at Splot Słoneczny (the most popular daytime events on Sundays). He has booked artists such as Just Emma, Youandewan, Dave Dinger, Tony Casanova, and JUST2.

He explored his musical vision in every major club and festival (Open’er, Audioriver, Summer Contrast, Garbicz, Las, Up To Date) in Poland and some abroad. He has performed in Germany, Portugal, Georgia, Norway, Croatia, Albania, the United Kingdom, Iceland, Spain, and Thailand.

Operating under the name Deaf Can Dance, he filters electronic music styles through his unique sensitivity and craftsmanship, resulting in a surprising, sensual, and incredibly danceable sound, regardless of the tempo. His eclectic, sensual energy, and ethereal atmospheres create sets that act on the audience like collective hypnosis. No matter where he performs, Deaf Can Dance is a true dance floor enchanter, captivating everyone with charming, spirited sounds.
