July will see Ejeca kickstart his new label Exploris with a three-track EP.

Nominated Breakthrough Producer at Best of British 2013 and one of the most bookable names in the UK and beyond after big tunes on Needwant, 2020 Vision and Aus, the Belfast-based DJ has decided go his own way with a new label, but it's not exactly what you might expect.

'Rick Flair', 'Skitter' and 'Prototype' show Ejeca, known to his ma as Garry, venturing into pure techno territory. 

Envisioned as a chance to showcase his own stuff alongside emerging talent, Exploris is an exciting prospect for the man who brought us instant UK house classics like 'Horizon', 'Rosario' and 'Together' in 2013.

For the second time in quick succession, tech house hero Lee van Dowski teams up with Malta producer Dean Demanuele, who has ties to Bedrock and Mobilee amongst other labels, for a new three track EP that is hugely infectious. Van Dowski, of course, has long been defining tech house trends with his releases on labels like Cadenza, Material Series, Mobilee and many others.
Up first is the title track, Function is Tension, which is a deep and rolling track that will hypnotise anyone in its wake: the search light like synths lend things and urban feel as the bobbling drums bring a certain funk to the table.
Next up, Foo Gas is another deep and dirty roller, this time with hunched drums, skittish percussion skating across the face of the arrangement and plenty of loopy, involving sub bass.
Last but not least, Calamity John comes over like a prime Perlon record with its minimal and abstract design, tightly coiled drum funk and bendy synth goo. It’s exactly the sort of track that makes DC10 regulars go wild and is why van Dowski and Demanule are so highly rated.

Lee Van Dowski & Dean Demanuele - Foo Gas

Thawra records founder Etyen unveils his new EP "Yasmine" deeply embedded in, and exploring his native musical roots. Yasmine offers 3 original tracks and a remix by German-Iranian Electronica producer Namito (Sol Selectas, Bedrock).

Eibada, Yasmine and Ibada seamlessly fuse syncopated rhythms, oriental melodies and driving synth bass-lines & Electronica elements, with a warm and cinematic quality. From a story-telling standpoint, each track forms a chapter in a 3-part critique on identity, and the clash of cultures that parallels the duality within the Lebanese artist, born from one culture and yet adopting another.

Eibada, meaning "worship", tackles the ideas of regressive patriarchal notions embedded in Lebanese society, idolising false gods and holding their opinions as gospel, serving malice in the name of holy worship. On the other hand, Yasmine, the emblematic flower, highlights and reflects on the beauty and intellect found within this conflicted society, while finally, Ibada, meaning "extinction", devolves back into pessimistic outlooks on the path we're leading and where we are headed.

Perfectly complimenting this package is Namito's revolution inspired remix of Eibada, using sounds recorded from the Lebanese revolution which erupted on October 17 2019. Namito masterfully delivers a dreamy club ready mix that packs a punch and holds nothing back with its thematically poignant message.

After their previous joint venture as producers and remixer respectively in Dissonance’s last single “Dark Glow”, Dissonance and Mike Dazzer now join forces presenting their new collaborative single “Melange”.

As its slightly poorly written french meaning indicates, “Melange” represents a well-defined mixture of both Dissonance and Mike Dazzer’s melodic, deep and rhythmic styles of Progressive House. With catchy melodies and powerful basslines, “Melange” falls well within the usual ALT14 catalogue of tracks aimed to please listeners both at home and at the club.

If you don’t already know Dissonance, their project kicked off in 2017 in their hometown Zaragoza. Aiming to fulfill their own vision of melodic-driven and powerful bassline-filled music, Dissonance try to combine the best of the mainstream and underground music while letting their creativity run wild. Their combined effort earned them the support of relevant artists such as Dirty South, Sebjak, Crusy or Anderblast, among many others.

Mike Dazzer began his music production journey in 2012, although it wasn’t until 2015 that he started to release his works on progressive house-oriented labels. After several years of genre-gazing exploration, Mike Dazzer found safe haven in the most melodic and progressive sides of Techno and House music, around which he’s trying to make a turning point in his career.

Next remix of Yamil's 'POL Talks' LP comes all the way from Spain, @Thimblemusic has been responsible for taking to the next level Yamil's single 'Encontrarnos' featuring Colombian's music band @MNKYBSNSS. 

@Thimblemusic's passion for electronic music and experimentation, makes his songs are not subject to a particular style, passing through sounds such as afro house, Deep house, deep-tech and sometimes with Indie influences. His music is loaded with harmonies that evoke deep sensations, combining rhythms in which a mixture is observed between the electronic and the organic. 

We can see his character as a producer on this remix. By raising the bpm and adding a powerful and organic groove, this is a perfect Indie Dance song to raise the temperature on any dance floor around the world. Hardly classifiable into one genre, Thimble has been able to maintain the original essence of the song but taking it in a more dance-floor focused direction where the melodies and the vocals meet.

Music is emotion and great music touches your emotional senses and heart. Great music can be found throughout the entire music scene in all genres. The same applies for house music, whether it’s within my personal preference is subjective and therefore not valid as an argument for great music. As a DJ I bring my emotion and energy in my set to tell the story I wish to express. To give my emotion, energy & heart to the crowd I believe the story is best told within a certain musical spectrum as much as possible. Surely not bound or confined to play only the same kind of tracks, but complementary to the energy and vibe of other tracks within that emotional story I tell.

Bio
Started DJ-ing in the pre digital age of electronic dance music, played at several clubs, events and had a residency at a club In Delft NL. I played with a variety of DJ’s who have changed the dance scene over the years to come. In the era where underground became mainstream and vinyl became CD's the love of the music left me. My musical preference was nearly unavailable due to the vast quantity of ordinary mainstream music and therefore turned my back to the dance scene.

Exploring other sounds of music and loving them, as long as the artists put in their heart and soul. That's emotion you can't ignore in music. Despite the other mmusic and emotions their was always a void in my heart but never knew why. Until a friend re-introduced me to the new and evolved dance scene. Never expected to get in touch with the magic again I was blown away. At that moment for the first time in many years the void in my heart was filled and I knew I can never turn my back to the scene again. Enjoying the musical emotions artist nowadays create, finally the musical preference that was unavailable 2 decades ago is here. So it wasn’t long before I jumped back in the scene, picked up my DJ skills and embraced this new digital era full of possibilities and opportunities. With renewed love for the music, the artists and the entire scene. Now incorporating my knowledge of the past and the limitations of vinyl into the enormous possibilities, , creative freedom and present emotions that are spread throughout the scene today.
