My first go at Disquiet Junto project. Been wanting to get involved for a while, just haven't got around to it until now. Not sure if there's any etiquette involved, so I just went for it. Had fun.

My local paper isn't published on a Sunday (when I did this), and the lead article on their website was something really grim about a pet dog getting mauled that featured references to real people. Decided not to go there, so instead went to this article featured on the front page of The Yorkshire Post site, my 'next level up' local paper:

I'm guessing an actual paper copy would have had a more even line length and so scanned better. With this is in mind, and because I can never leave well enough alone, I decided to cut some words to give it a better feel. Quite pleased with the result and the new meanings that have arisen.

Musically it was pretty much trial and error with no real plan in mind. Lots of mucking about with samples and too many effects.  The vocals have a disguised voice informant quality that fits the words I think, but that was a happy accident. Production generally not my strong point but hoping to work on that.

Looking forward to contributing again.

My second Junto, at last inspiration strikes again. Started off doing some simple maths to work out that I could do 30 seconds each of 12 bars at 96 bpm so it would be all neat and tidy. 

Filtered a drum loop to get a swooshing sound that vaguely suggests brushing and water. Added a cheery little synth part that makes me think of an instructional video for children on how to brush their teeth.

Then subverted/ruined it by adding the words, which were never part of the plan until I found the 'If you have bad teeth...' thing popping into my head. I'm happy with the contrast between the jaunty tune and the black humour of the words.

Also had fun rhythmically brushing my teeth in time to the backing track and getting water all over my mic and laptop.
