Modern Ruin are Nikolaos Raptis (aka Fringe Society, based in Berlin) and Gerard Papasimakopoulos (lead vocalist of the now-defunct Rattler Proxy, based in Athens). Their debut album "Unemployment Line Disco" came out last year on Hoga Nord Records. This EP is their first for Lurid Music. It includes remixes by Gabe Gurnsey (Factory Floor) and Fringe Society. Trashcan techno and darkroom banter rub elbows like barfly buddies. Do you really want to go "where everybody knows your name"?

Emerging from the shadows, Hesperius Draco returns to Frigio with a solo release for the first time since his 2016 album Actus Tragicus.

Directive V conjures up the magic of giallo horror, silver screen slashers and smoky synthlines, while exploring something altogether new. Tempered percussion and low bass-lines “introduce the 12” with “Lexploitation”. Cinematic influences percolate in the steady percussion and lonesome elation of “Memories of Sex Desire.” The mood changes on the flip with “Leaders In Space.” Guitar strings and breathy samples blend to create a leering late lounge track spiked with acid notes and vocoder bitterness. The finale brings something totally different. The gurgling acid line is amplified as Hesperius Draco unveils “Cyber Bondage.” Floor centric and machine steeped, stabbing synth-lines, rusted rhythms and an inchoate energy course through this finale to display yet another side of Alessandro Parisi’s sound.

"Industrial Technology" is a nod to the New Beat/Techno era of the late 80's and early 90's (New Zone, Zoth Ommog, Boy Records, Antler-Subway, ... to name a few).

After his appearance on Frigio Allstars Vol 3, Scannoir (also half member of the amazing GOTT project) delivers his first full length EP with "Through My Silence".

Emotive and raw, the style pursued blurs the lines between synth wave, EBM and techno. "Industrial Technology" opens with a driving and steadily increasing buildup that finds its peak with a wink in the late eighties New Beat/Techno era. Followed by "Get Ready (but sorry)" which entertains with powerful drums, thick strings and rumbling chords while samples and distant lyrics recite the coming of change. The breadth of Scannoir’s style is truly remarkable, with this amazing 5 track EP being emblematic of his range. The flip takes a different direction, the lovelorn lament of “Through My Silence” melts sweetened synth lines with cold pain-streaked words before blooming into a brooding burner. A shaky alliance between samples and vocals runs through the rhythmic assault and violent undertones of “Why Old News.” The closure comes with the marching melancholy of “Alles Wird Gut”, a dark and moody end to this debut EP.

Daniel Solís aka Second Gate delivers his debut EP straight from the heart of Mexico, bringing his genre-bending approach to the label through 3 tracks inspired by the Latin American culture developed around mysticism and black magic. It includes three unique and delightful remixes by Bonnie Spacey, Anastasia Zems and Ives Barceló.

Starting with Santero, presenting a powerful analog bass serves as a foundation for tribal drums, mysterious chants and glitched vocals. Everything is wrapped up by the dark atmospheres that will launch listeners into a trip through an eerie and mysterious jungle. 

Followed by the remixes, French and Marseille based Dj & Producer, Bonnie Spacey, also head of Critical Monday is in charge of adding some lightness to the Ep, landing some Italo/Synthwave vibes plus an exquisite vocal. 

Adding more female power to the label, we have the honor to have Anastasia Zems, with releases on Whypeopledance, Les Yeux Orange and Human Endeavour debuting as well on the label, bringing an unique feel to the release, trippy, clubby and hypnotic, just perfect for a peak time hour.

Ives Barceló strikes back with an enigmatic mix, inspired by the magic lands of Veracruz, México, bringing to you a joyful journey to the deep jungle of Catemaco, somehow you will witness some eerie voices from the witches calling you for an introspective trip. 

For Black Magic, it has a powerful bass followed by modular synthesizers take us onto a trip through a dark landscape full of polyrhythms, granular synths and every weird technique that came to Daniels mind while he delivers his mysterious and hypnotic style to this Indie Dance with Electro influences track.   

Closing with Twisted Man, fusing Indie Dance and Dub music, its rumbly bass and dub chords will push any dancefloor into psychedelic frenzy. The weird atmospheres and drones slowly creep through the track, ready to be replaced by mind melting leads and techno drums when the track comes to its highest point.
