Fluid dynamics (apparently Joseph Allen's speciality) is an important science to add to the conversation. The only valid criticism I can see is him framing it as "ventilation versus masking" instead of "in addition to".

Okay, listening forward, yeah, an anti-masking fluid dynamics engineer is problematic. But many FDEs are not crazy like this.

i want to s/o E G McRae's "mothers of massive resistance" (2018) b/c i think opposition to "unmasking is murder" & combatting social murder is related to support for lynching "as honor killings" that underlie opposing intl law & federal law.

There have been articles about how Charles Koch astroturfed opposition to masks, particularly in schools. I think the business community dislikes masks because a mask is a visible reminder of a pandemic that is not over. A mask mandate accentuates this perceptual/visual problem. If you have a mask mandate because Covid still sucks, why not allow kids to stay home if Covid is bad during a winter or late spring surge? Then parents don't drive to work. People pull back on consumption activities. A family decides not to book an airplane trip to Disneyland. That costs oil barrons money.

10000000% the "upper limit" of dates is ridiculous.

We look back at how such a basic intervention as masking during a pandemic became increasingly scrutinized, undermined, and ultimately stigmatized in mainstream discourse over the last three years.
