Rounding off the year on Redstone Press, Debba comes correct with a varied four-tracker laden with hefty subs and lock-tight percussion.

The A-side starts out with fast-paced staccato kicks and the oscillating, warped bassline of ‘Called Up’. These elements soon develop into a twisted, energetic romp, showing Debba’s innate knack for upfront, low-end percussive work. Continuing with this theme ‘Direction’ adds reverb-drenched vocals to the mix and ups the bass weight, with gritty, looping subs throughout. These two will put that soundsystem you’re dreaming of playing on, to the test!

The B-side is more restrained and meditative but retains the heavy subs, opening with the downtempo and introspective chords of ‘I Said’. The drop in pace gives Debba’s signature beatwork and melodic flourishes space to breathe with the dreamy synths of ‘Subtle’ building up, then breaking down into a low-slung UK Techno roller.

Debba // Voices Radio – June '25

Bassweight Nostalgia Vol. 2 is the latest instalment in Debba’s ongoing 2-tracker self-release series showcasing nostalgic club tunes built for late-night sound systems. A continuation of last year’s Volume 1 featuring two peak-time tracks, Volume 2 builds on the development of Debba’s recognisable sonic identity. In the works since early 2025, the EP is stripped but weighted, with warm subs, ghosted vocals and swinging UKG-influenced percussion.

1. Debba ‘I Don’t Know’

Rumbling subs, tight percussion and scattered vocal fragments in a 4/4 club tool that unfolds patiently and heavily, featuring a trademark UK Bass switch up midway through.

2. Debba ‘In My Heart’

A more direct stepper with pitched vocal hooks and UKG swing, balancing melancholy with a heart-thumping low-end. A gentle nod to the title track Just Wanna from last year’s 4-track EP on Madam X’s Kaizen.

Following the stripped, heavy focus of Volume 2, this instalment contrasts light and dark — two sides of the same late-night moment. The EP balances radiant melody and pressure-heavy low-end, tracing Debba’s evolving sound palette through chrome synths, vocal flickers and dense percussion.
