Renegades

Lyrically elaborate, and rhythmically contagious, Decade of the Dead Arcade are an enthusiastic electric indie rock band from the Land of Enchantment. Creating an intoxicating blend of driving beats and vivid harmonies, this 5 piece group has become a staple in the Southern New Mexico music scene. With magnetic stage presence, and enlivening musical embrace, the group radiates energy while encouraging dancing, singing, and celebration. November 25, 2014 marked the released of their freshmen album, “Complexities,” a lyrical novel defined by ambient themes and driving rhythms, depicting the collective journey of the band discovering their sound. From animated, anthemic songs like "Roots" and "My Friends" to the intimately expressive melodies of "Renegades" and "The Worst," Decade's broad musical style transcends genres.

Formed from a musical array of chance, guitarist and vocalist Andrew Martinez connected with the other band members through a mixture of impromptu gatherings and extensive discussions of music and gear. Manny Rodriguez, vocalist and lead guitarist, first met Martinez at an all-night "jam-session" six years prior. The pair spent time collaborating in Rodriguez's previous band, Del Rey. After six years of extensive shows and songwriting, Del Rey’s disbanding would ultimately become the catalyst for the birth of Decade of the Dead Arcade in the spring of 2013. The group began to take shape when drummer, Luke Dumke, hosted the two guitarists at weekly musical collaboration sessions in his home studio space. Adding an electric component to the band's sound, Dumke has had a long relationship with music. From recording at 16, to studying audio engineering in Orlando and working in various recording studios throughout the Chicago area, Dumke's experiences have seasoned his contributions to Decade of the Dead Arcade. By utilizing live performance software, Ableton Live, as well as various customized controller devices alongside his acoustic drum kit, Dumke says he is able to incorporate "electronic elements, while still keeping an organic feel.” Bassist, Ricardo Sifuentes, an El Paso native, considered a “massive gear-head" by Martinez, came into the picture after multiple meetings regarding musical equipment, technique and influence. After sitting in on a handful of sessions with the newly formed trio, Sifuentes secured his spot holding down the low end. Later, in January, 2014, after months of sitting in with the band at various live shows, lead vocalist, Nik Singleton, was officially added as a full-time member to the all male mix. With over a decade of vocal experience and training, Singleton became the glue that held the group together, offering highly complex vocal harmonies, as well as synth, keys, and backing percussion.

Decade performed their first show in May of 2013 to a house-full of anxious friends and fellow artists and has accomplished volumes since. From wild, all-night, sweat-drenched house shows, to crowded biker bars, and stacked venues, the members of Decade of the Dead Arcade have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with such artists as: Dark Rooms, Waxahatchee, Hi Ho Silver Oh, Onward Etc., The Soil & The Sun, Styx, and The Vans Warped Tour artists of 2013. Curious newcomers and fans should expect melodies and rhythms that will pull you out of your seat and get your shoulders moving. Raw, but delicate, hip, but unique, new and fresh, Decade of the Dead Arcade are set for a strong and productive year in 2015, as they get ready to release an acoustic EP with accompanying documentary, and hit the road, breaking into new territory.
