‘THROAT’ is the new album by composer/producer Aaron David Ross (ADR). Arriving as the New York artist’s second release on PAN, ‘THROAT’ is made entirely from vocal sounds. It could only be crafted in the ultra-present; an age where the poetry of songwriting is flattened into catchy hooks. As words are sliced into sounds, ideas are reduced to sibilant syllables that still contain a range of emotional power, but deliver it in subversively different ways.

‘THROAT’ exploits these ways, borrowing vocal fragments from everywhere to collage a choral congregation of singing servers; pinging one another to create open-source equal-opportunity electronic pop music. Reichian polyrhythms EDM drop into Bieber-esque beatboxing. Hypothetical K-pop stars conduct holographic choirs in altruistic ritual. Virtual summer festival DJs transcode into pure phonemes; anthropomorphizing formant-shifted vacuums of communication. When you drop the cargo of making sense, you can go so much faster.

As a classically trained musician inspired equally by pop and contemporary art & technology practices, ADR’s work has distinguished itself through its formal deliriousness and playful tenor. Besides ongoing collaborations with an international community of vocalists, producers, artists and fashion designers, Ross releases solo recordings, composes music for film, TV and advertising, and maintains a practice of live performance and sound installation.

The release is mastered by Jeremy Cox featuring artwork by Alex Gvojic.

In 2016, DJ, producer and member of Genome 6.66MBP Tess Sun, aka Hyph11e, began work on her debut EP.

Living a double life as a composer for TV by day, and DJing around Shanghai by night, the passing of time often stifled and spurred on her production process. After having a dream of a Vanishing Cinema, a place where memories disappear in front of your eyes through the passage of time, Hyph11e quit her day job to focus on her own music full-time. The result is four original, uncompromising tracks that owe as much to vintage noise and industrial music as they do to field recordings and contemporary club music.

On the remixes, Tzusing tweaks and tunes “Black Pepper”, driving it into idiosyncratically ominous territory; M.E.S.H. rebuilds “Unknown Number” from the ground up until it reaches the clouds; while Kid Antoine takes “Escapism”s warning sirens and cuts them into playful, bouncing cascades.

Tatiana Heuman's debut album 'QEEI' is a multi-layered collection of deconstructed pop songs marked by stuttering percussion, chaotic microsamples, and infectious vocal melodies. 

Heuman describes 'QEEI' as a collection of audible planets within orbit of the same galaxy of emotions. (The album was composed between the gravity that holds Buenos Aires, Puerto Escondido, and Berlin.) 'QEEI' does violence to borders through glassy ultrasound and entrancing hyperrhythms. 

Each song is a different “preacher.” 'QEEI' formulates a pop music mangled and contorted to give voice to ‘contemporary witches.’ 

There is a side of digital brutalism to the music as well as humanistic breathing synthscapes and real human body sounds. Heuman experiments with the plasticity of personality, her “inner territory interacting with its own limits.” The result: “Wars.”

Creative concept of ‚DARK-CORE SCALE‘ compilation, a debut release of Prague-based collective UNIZONE which also hosts an eponymous party series and a radio show, represents the fascination with the dark corners of human mind. Collaboration of fifteen producers, curated by UNIZONE soulmates and club-night-ex-guests from all around the world, brings together a wide spectrum of dark club aesthetics, ranging from rave- influenced bangers and nervous rhythms to experimental deconstruction and nightmarish sound design. Nevertheless, for compilation contributors, the process of interpreting ‚dark-core‘ theme has not only negative or connotations, but rather deliberating and sometimes even calming effect. Or, using a hyperbole, ‚DARK-CORE SCALE‘ could be described as a ‚reversed industrial music‘ – as a collaborative release of producers using external tools and sounds for self-exploration.
