The riffs and vibe of this one were inspired by some of the punk and harder rock my friends and I would listen to growing up, as it supplied the soundtrack for our misadventures.

Running From Nothing

Trying a cover of my favorite Muddy Waters tune, and an interpretation of my favorite version of this tune. Again, rough draft with no vocals, but this was fun to record.

When I was working retail, especially this time of year, trekking the vast frozen tundra (empty parking lot) into the store zapped any energy or motivation I had before my shift even started. I would try ti think of myself as a renegade vigilante in the old west walking up to a saloon to dispense some justice. That's where this comes from.

Got A Job to Do

In the spirit of Black Friday, and to force myself to write more, here's another track. It's the feeling you get walking away from a heated discussion in which you stood up for yourself. It's the soundtrack to not taking anyone's bullsh*t or discouragement. It's doing something difficult, realizing you've only just started, and challenging the world to bring it on.

Tough As Nails

The last time I went to a show it was with some friends of mine. We're older, all around 30, and we went to see Combichrist. I love industrial brutal sh*t if I'm in the mood for it, but I remember looking around the venue with my friend and noticing that everyone else there either looked like they were friends of the opening bands, or in those opening bands, who all seemed to be clones of the guy from Orgy. I remember thinking people who are just into rock apologetically seem to be fewer and further between. So when writing this I put myself back in that venue and... here ya go.

Lone Rocker

The idea came from that feeling of dread when you want to be social with your friends, but you don't want to have to deal with other odd, drunk people. But as the night goes on and you trek from one bar to the next, the dread and annoyances fall away and you're left with that alcohol super energy which needs an outlet.

Barcrawler Blues

The goal is to eventually bring this to the most talented guys I know and maybe record an album of some kind. I have two guys in mind, which is why the working name for this implies there are three people involved. At the moment though, it’s just me with some free software to put the drums together, and another free program to record. At some point we might get this thing off the ground, but in the mean time this is the notepad, if you will, where I can jot down ideas for songs or riffs or whatever.
