Adelaide based Emily Glass, a long-time friend of DECISIONS, establishes the mood with ‘Scribble Machine’, a carnivalesque assemblage of bells and mechanised percussion (Emily also contributed to the compilation’s artwork). Shanghai’s Laughing Ears follows with ’Among The Ashes’, a deftly meted downtempo excursion in her inimitable crepuscular style, giving way to the unhinged polyrhythmic wiggle of Air Max ’97’s ‘Triple Pendulum’. Amsterdam based newcomer Bby Eco pops the lid off an off-world bee hive on ‘Innerlife’, whipping buzzy samples into an urgent lurch. Yre Den returns to DECISIONS with the compilation’s most effervescent number, squishing together bird song, humanoid vocals and synth tones gleaned from an uncanny valley on ‘Bird Spiral’. Bristol’s Ido Plumes picks up the exuberance Yre Den puts down on the epic ‘Walking With The Tasman Abel’, building a uniquely frenetic groove at 171bpm (fun fact: neither Air Max ’97 nor Ido Plumes know how his track was submitted — it simply materialised as the project took shape — quantum entanglement?). On ‘Aurora Torus’ Isomov (somehow) effortlessly meshes a shoe-gazy vocal line with an impossibly plucked harp and what sounds like a melodica over a Y2K Neuro DNB rhythm. Milan based label alumn Oroboro cleaves the compilation in two with ‘Absolute Schism’, a brutal EDM abstraction of charred synthesis and chunky percussion. Sydney’s Hence Therefore contemplates historical agency with the rudely swung screamer ’Path Dependents’, fresh off an outing on BBC Radio 1 in Object Blue’s Essential Mix. Melbourne based maestro CORIN, another long-time friend of the label, shares a lushly textured slice of broken EBM in ’Stealth’, followed by the rolling peak-time paranoia of Atro’s ‘Hafta’ — one of the compilation’s most forthright club weapons. DJ Plead’s ‘STP’ is a hot scoop, gracing Consequences with its fragrantly seasoned percussive presence after countless appearances in your favourite DJs’ setlists. Berlin based newcomer COLLO further elevates the room temperature with the driving polyrhythms and entrancing synths of ‘Bantu Nilote’; the track title nodding to his combined Bantu and Nilotic family background. A blunted SCAM instrumental supports Sevy’s vividly detailed flows on ‘Neighbour Mr Tumnus’, revisiting the fruitful collaborative relationship we first encountered on the ‘Vibrio’ EP. Frankfurt based artist Avbvrn (whose debut full-length album just came out on PH17) closes the compilation with ‘Foment (Recursive)’, in which deep and reflective ambience is scoured by a grinding beat echoing some of his 90s hip hop influences.

Consequences finds kindred spirits in artists unapologetically journeying their own spirals, resulting in a lively multitude of rhythm, sound design and song shapes defying genre and tempo. The compilation seeks to round off a difficult and disruptive year on a generative, community-oriented note.

Color Plus presents 'Pure Energy' - a full length record jointly released by Towhead Recordings and Vanity Press Records. Connecticut bred and Brooklyn based, Color Plus burst onto the landscape in 2017 with two vinyl releases on Vanity Press and Cazeria Cazador. He then founded his own imprint Towhead Recordings and released his first album 'Regular Energy'. Providing production for Eartheater, Little Pain & frequent collaborator Ize along the way, 2019 saw the release of his mixtape 'Roadrunner.'
Expanding on the ideas of 'Regular Energy', 'Pure Energy' is 10 manic tracks that will bring a dying dancefloor back from the grave.

On ACEN 017 London producer hmurd joins the All Centre ranks following releases on TT & Cherche Encore.

Title track ‘Low Grade Plastics’ continues with the sparse landscapes and dizzying atmospheres explored in hmurds productions so far. Opening with spartan drum choices, heavy kicks and cantering hi-hats sit at the tracks core whilst heavily processed percussion and FX make fleeting appearances. With eight on beat snare drum repetitions the track descends into it’s main theme. An austere four note melody, with frenetic kicks firing off around it as a loosely anchored snare provides a woozy half time rhythm. As the track progresses further FX heighten the sense of tension building around the tracks core, with a single oscillating bass note providing a nod to the tracks dubstep influences.

B side ‘Beighton Champ’ takes a different slant to its counterpart. Rapid hi-hats and percussion signal the tracks beginning and create a rhythmic sense of security, before being dispelled as the track collapses into a series of erratic de-quantised percussion breaks. Suddenly the confusion is broken, melting away into familiar percussion patterns accompanied by an angular melody courtesy of hmurd collaborator Emile Frankel. The melody is suddenly broken by a rising granular sound which signals an abrupt switch to a straighter beat, with kicks, claps and breath sounds carrying the groove.

@bbyeco is the producer and DJ moniker of Netherlands based Joris Benjamins. Often conveying thematic and textural elements of the natural world, Bby Eco has the environment on the brain, tasking himself with synthesising a soundtrack for planet Earth.

“Idée Fixe” is the point of origin in the collaborative relationship between Splash Pattern and Misantrop, created while both artists were re-evaluating their individual sonic identities. The EP therefore takes up a life of its own, distinct from the respective outputs of Splash Pattern and Misantrop.
The release consists of three cuts of twitchy, pounding and synthetic club tracks. An homage to exuberant and innovative dancefloor sounds, the EP implements a pliable palette of sounds into three tracks blending influence from a range of high energy dance styles.
“Idée Fixe” conflates grime, techno, electro and beyond into a three piece puzzle; the rolling opener “Same Logic”, followed by the frantic 150 BPM bouncy ball “Monomania”, and ending in a dancehall incarnation on title track “Idée Fixe”.
