There are too many words that show how much of a role DJ Styles had played in my foundational years of music, networking and most importantly, making a conscious effort to lead from the heart, when I first bumped into Lockdown 06 at RedRat back in Early 2015, that was exactly the vibe I got from our homie and his crew right here in Palmerston North.

At a very unstable time during my secondary school years at PNBHS, Chris and his homies quickly became family to me, and even considered me a part of Lockdown 06. Since then I have gone on to be part of so many people's lives that in lockdown of 2020, as a social creature going insane, I kinda left with no other choice to survive but to start a little movement of therapeutic talano and korero called Beat Whānau.

Chris and I were just days away from having our podcast, and I am blessed to have which I know would have been so helpful for music people across NZ, so no doubt we'll hear a bit more of his legacy on future episodes of our podcast.

It's good to be alive, but it's hard to accept our brother is not alive in the physical, so we pray to meet our brother in the afterlife.

Decktrik works with other beatmakers and musicians to get through blockages both mentally and socially, which has, in turn, sparked the beginning of a continual podcast with people in NZ music sharing their journeys, testimony and encouragement to upcoming and established artists alike, with the focus of strengthening NZ’s music presence in the global market.

He has released multiple records that have been signed both nationally and internationally. His first entrance to the music world came in 2017 with his track 'Bringing It Back' being accepted for a publishing deal with Peak Hour Music's Hotslice Imprint, Peak Hour Music being a launchpad for musical superstars including deadmau5, Deorro and Zedd. His latest track ‘YALLAH’ is a vibrant electronic track with an Arabic fusion. The instrumental-based track made it to the SRN Top 10 and the music-video has been heavily supported on Juice TV and social media. Decktrik also presented a nationwide remix challenge for the official ‘YALLAH’ remix EP. Despite unsettling times for many of the artists, they all pushed through with 5 top entries and many bonus entries adding to the mix.
