In between COVID 19 Lockdowns and bits and pieces of free time I could grab from Special Needs Educational work I have managed to compose some music over the past couple of years. I would like to share it with you.

Recent Music Composed by Declan Mulligan

Born out of a return visit to Berlin in October 2022, a whole 30 years since I last visited that city. The changes and the memories, the troubled history. My parents fight against Fascism in the 1930's and 40's, tempered with my father's love of German Opera. My early love of 1970's German Electronic Music (Krautrock) groups such as Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk. Shared stories in Dublin of Berlin Kabaret, Bertolt Brecht and Weimar decadence from the wonderful Ms. Agnes Bernelle. David Bowie's mid '70's Berlin Period with Iggy Pop, Brian Eno and Tony Visconti at Hansa Ton Studios by the Wall. My own time in German working as an Engineer and seeing that Wall and all that it represented fall. the emergence of German Techno Music and the Cultural change that it introduced.

In this Album I have tried to encapsulate all these experiences and their effects on me personally. I hope you enjoy it.

This Track has a long pedigree. In the Summer of 2016 I composed the original electro backing track on an iPad mini while sitting in my garden in the warm sunshine. I added the 50's style twangy Electric Guitar in 2018 in my home studio in Dublin. The Strings and Oboe were added in 2022 remotely via Abbey Road Studios. Then it was finally mixed at Hansa Studios Berlin.

Rain

Fight was one of the tracks included of the Satellite Song EP which was released in March 1993 and charted in Ireland at No 21.

The band played constantly in the early 1990's throughout Ireland. Following a successful night in Sir Henry's Club, Cork City supporting 'The Sultans of Ping and The Frank and Walters. the band stayed over to catch American band My Bloody Valentine the following night. Their support act was a new band from Seattle called Nirvana...That was interesting !

Hannah (She's Got Everything) was recorded in The Lesser Gods own Studio in Coolock, Dublin.

1992 in Dublin's Rockgarden venue in Temple Bar. A student Night gig was always a rowdy event. Some were completely nuts with moshing galore, audience participation in various ways and fashions !

Where The Sun Don't Shine (Live at the Rockgarden)

Another one of the bands successful tracks. It managed to cross over genres and was considered rather Radio friendly and received a lot of plays. on local and college radio

Never My Intention

The inevitable show opener for The Lesser Gods. This track was written over a period of several years and was tested on live audiences throughout the country in it's development.

Declan Mulligan is both an audio  and visual artist. Composing and recording as 'The Artdeco Sound Project', he is a multi-instrmentalist with over 40 years of professional and semi-professional musical experience. Playing with various Rock Bands in Dublin, Ireland, he has also produced and co-produced a large volume of work.

He went back to college in 2000 to study fine art & and design. Graduating with an Honours BFA, he then went on to study Digital Media at Masters Level. 

He lives in a small coastal area south of Dublin City with his wife Louise and their son Phoenix.
