Dedication is a musical project and album release that 
has been five years and two continents in the making.

A meeting of Japanese musicianship and Western voices, Dedication is the shared vision of designer Mikey Yamada and Felix Dickinson, the DJ/Producer who (under his own name and various aliases including Foolish and Sly, LHAS Inc, Das Etwas and The Mythical Beasts), has released music on labels including Eskimo, DFA, Rush Hour, International Feel, and Crue-L.

While Dedication obviously shares its name with Mikey Yamada’s famed clothing brand, it’s also true that the title could not be more indicative of the amount of sheer effort and real love that has gone in to making this 
trans-pacific collaboration happen.

The raw musical materials of Dedication had already been brought together by Mikey even before Felix first met guitarist Tsuyoshi Kosuga (also from Cro Magnon) in 2007, while playing together at a Lifeforce party in Tokyo.
Quite by chance the following week, whilst staying in Kamakura with Mikey, Felix heard some music that Tsyoshi had been recording at Mikey’s studio with the keyboard player Botch.
Felix loved what he heard so much that he immediately asked their permission to create a remix, but sadly the tracks were recorded in such a way as to make this impossible.

This would have been the end of the story had Mikey, Tsyoshi, Botch and Felix not made the unprecedented decision to go back in the studio the following night and record an entirely new session that he could now use.
This new material was bought halfway across the world and back to England where Kyle Chandler (Foolish and Sly) added his own unique vocals.

The track became ‘It’s A Dedication’ and in the years since its creation Felix has made the journey to Kamakura every single time he has visited Japan to DJ. While there, Dedication have recorded more tracks and, slowly but surely, more amazing music has been brought back to England where it has been worked on by an ever increasing amount of talented western collaborators, including Crazy P’s vibrant front woman, Danielle Moore, Soulful US expat Brendan Reilly and bona fide House Music institution, Robert Owens.

The resultant album is a distinct and singular collection of undeniably exciting music that takes in a huge range of influences, taking the listener on a tour through Disco, Jazz, Funk, House and even Rock, but via the twin focuses of two very different cultural lenses.
