I love the early hours in the club - the untouched dancefloor, the first arrivals. Friendly faces gather at the bar, sipping drinks, taking in the atmosphere. The first dancers step forward - I truly love those first dancers. Smiles spread, greetings echo "hello, hello"—filling the air with excitement. There's a spark of joy, a glimpse of something special. That’s why playing the warmup set is an honor. I deeply cherish it since there is something sacred about setting the night in motion. Music plays softly in the background, building up. Slowly but surely.

The Warmup '25

In a small gastro studio selling fermented products, a biological revolution takes place. The good bacteria stop working and no more products turn sour. Danilas, the manager of the tannery, who has spent his whole life among the bacteria, suddenly hears their voice. They are angry. Bacteria are fed up with exploitation, want equal rights, and threaten the world: "People need bacteria, and we don't need people."

The fermentation process is vital for humans, but the rights of bacteria sound absurd. Will Danilas be able to make people sympathize with another species – an alien species – and its needs? First he will have to convince two members of the tannery syndicate, Fatima and Jie, who take a much more pragmatic view of the crisis. This story is a test of empathy for humans.

The crown prince of Germany's Italo/Electro scene takes the reins for our latest mix. Whether it's his solo endeavours or his excellent Tuff City Kids collabs with Gerd Janson and Black Spuma project alongside Fabrizio Mammarella, he's a producer who always delivers, taking the sounds of the '80s and bringing them bang up to date. 

*How would you describe your sound?*
Dance music between Italo, House, Electro, Synth, Rave, Acid and a little Techno .. mostly leaning towards 80ies sound.. maybe

*What and who inspires you and influences your sound?* 
I guess listening to music since being a kid and one specific and very forming influence was DJ Ata in the early days of the  Robert Johnson Club .. I guess that place in general.. i spent so many nights there.

*Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?*
My first 12" release came out 25 years ago ..and when i stumbled across your idea (from a few years back) to record a 100% Lauer music mix i thought: now is the time !   I tried to cover most periods featuring  some personal faavourites of mine.. and some "hits" ..  Its a bit random .. but  i feel it is a good representation of what   i did in the last years... hehe

A key figure in the German electronic scene, Philipp Lauer has been forging his own path since the release of his first EP in 2000. Head of the Pyramide II studio, he has delivered over 200 remixes for a wide range of artists including Pet Shop Boys, M83, Falco, and Sven Väth. As a solo artist, his productions under the name Lauer have been released on renowned labels such as Running Back, Permanent Vacation, and Beats In Space. He also multiplies successful collaborations with projects like Tuff City Kids (with Gerd Janson), Black Spuma (with Fabrizio Mammarella), and TNP (with Tim Sweeney). His style moves between melodic house, retro synth-pop, and cosmic dance music. With a catalogue as vast as a phonebook and tours across the globe, he still never stops reinventing himself.
