Seit 13 Jahren begibt sich der US-amerikanische Künstler Tom Sachs auf Erkundungsreise an die Grenzen anderer Welten. Mithilfe von Sperrholz, Heißkleber und Pappe inszeniert er spektakuläre Weltraummissionen und Space-Landschaften nach strengstem Raumfahrtprotokoll. Dabei thematisiert Sachs immer wieder unser Konsumverhalten, Technologie-Gläubigkeit und Markenkult. Die neueste Mission seines "Space Programs" in Hamburg führt ihn und seine Crew auf der Suche nach Seltenen Erden zum Asteroiden Vesta. In dieser Episode spricht Friederike Herr mit Tom Sachs über seine künstlerischen Prinzipien, Smartphone-Sucht, Teerituale und was er von James Brown gelernt hat.
