Played this instrumental from a playlist for about 3 hours while writing for the day. Ended up performing for myself on the bathroom floor. The instrumental is playing from a speaker as I record into an iPad. About as rough as the soles of my feet. If I don't post it now, I might not ever!

Written during a stretch where everything around me felt loud and none of it clear.

On the advice from a random blog post, the last few days I took notice often I stopped myself from explaining. How often some thoughts didn't translate unless the other had lived long enough to carry them. I didn't let myself become frustrated as I used once would have. Instead I was simply aware. Listening to folks chase the car while I was planning the route and holding ideas that feel heavy because was carrying them alone and moving nowhere with them.

Just letting the thoughts finish themselves. Some moments don’t need applause just time and follow through. If it feels quiet...it’s on purpose. Enjoy. Welcome to the lab!

Quiet When the Room Gets Loud

Didn’t plan this one. Was 'perusing' and saw "Sex Tape" and found myself in a conversation with my other half clowning about how it's still referred to as a tape. The idea of “no VHS” kept looping in my head, no rewind, no edits and memory instead of footage. Very simple but after a few lyrical adjustments something cool came from the thought.
