On “Candyflip”, the third sneak peek of his forthcoming “Trip to Sanity” album, Oliver Koletzki shifts gear and puts the pedal to the metal. The EP’s title track is pure forward momentum with its neon synth euphoria that rushes over a muscular body, generously pairing menacing bass with percussive storytelling. Next up, the arppaggio-driven “Mantra for Bora” settles somewhere between Psy-Tech and Italo, craftily working tropes of both into a climax of total dissolution. No matter the elements, one thing’s clear – Koletzki is ready to overtake. “Chasing Holes” then literally flips the candy on its head, taking off on auto-pilot, fueled by flamenco guitar licks and funky hand drums a-top a strong house groove. A word of advice, fellow ravers: Buckle up for a joyride through the depth of night – sunrise is on the horizon.

Just before Maceo Plex's Ellum Audio label reaches its half century, the influential outlet serves up a standout EP from fast rising talent Fred Lenix.

Iago Frederici is a young Brazilian music producer who merges new era electronic melodies with his unique perspective of Latin American and Turkish cultures. Always expressing himself well, he is a regular face in Sao Paolo who is driving the thriving local scene forwards, and this new EP is sure to win him plenty of new fans across Europe.

It kicks off with 'The Rails', a bristling tech track that is run through with wiry synths and frosty filters. It's cold and austere and perfect to shake up a big warehouse space with a real sense of futuristic drama.

Next comes 'Manipulated Dead', an excellent electro tinged number that builds the suspense with some edgy drum work and rumbling synths. A sense of cosmic ambiance lights up the background and make this a track with real feeling.

The slick electro bomb 'Manipulated Living' closes things out with excellent drum programming and taught kicks. The slippery synths bring real fluidity to the grooves and some distant pads enrich the whole thing with a sense of real serenity.

These are three fantastic tracks from a producer who is all set to blow up.

As we celebrate Steyoyoke’s 8th Anniversary, we’re releasing an 8-track EP showcasing some legendary, original cuts by the label’s artists. 
 
The first track on this EP is “For Good”, by Earthlife featuring Eleonora. It begins with a peaceful, melodic soundscape with angelic vocals adding the sense of enchantment throughout the track.
Next, "1984", by Darko Milosevic is a pure ethereal track, rich in melodic and synth layers that is sure to fill you with emotions. Soul Button is next with "Gamila", a dreamy track pushing your mind and soul into a higher state. “The Journey" by Clawz SG, a diverse track, indeed a journey in itself with its dark and raw beats. Nick Devon follows with "Long Gone", with echoing layers feeding the listener with suspense and melancholic elements. DJ Abyss is one of the most innovative DJ’s to come out of Germany in the last 25 years. Although the Frankfurter born DJ’s career has predominantly been behind the scenes, he has managed to accomplish himself internationally as one of the first East German DJs, alongside fellow Dresdner DJ Hardsquencer alias Hardy Hard. Back in 1991 in Frankfurt (Oder) he co-founded the first East German techno club “KamithHall”. Months later together with the Berlin techno legend Kid Paul, he began hosting Space Admission. With packed resident DJ line-ups the club soon became famous nationwide and in 1992 thousands of people from surrounding cities attended. In December 1992 he showed his skills in foreseeing trends by regularly booking the then unknown DJ Paul van Dyk to play Space Admission, eventually giving him residency spot alongside with himself and Kid Paul. Six months later Jens Mahlstedt, also relatively unknown at the time, was added to the line-up. With the growing popularity of the 4 DJs Space Admission would soon become one of the country’s most famous party concepts. Unfortunately in 1995 after 3 years the club residency came to an end, due to the DJ’s fully booked schedules and numerous international appearances. From then on Space Admission took place intermittently. In 1992 Abyss had also already established the magazine Ten Dance and was heavily engaged in editorial work. Within a short time the magazine became one of the leading German electronic music magazines. In 1994 his quick rise as a DJ catapulted him into the top-ten most popular German DJs. After a brief period as host at Berlin Walfisch and Praxis Dr McCoy from mid 1993 to beginning of 1994, he opened the Frankfurter Margin. After the lease ran out at the Frankfurter location, in 1995 he opened the club Marginal Frontier in Guben and became resident DJ at Tresor, Berlin. In 1998 he went back to the studio and produced an album together with the Berliner DJ and producer Jay Ray. The first single from the album was released in 1999 on the Berlin label MFS. In 1999 Abyss went back to the studio to concentrate on his solo work. The following year he set up his own label Strike Records, then in 2001 a second label Alternate, plus the revival of the already founded in 1991 label Grooves Inc. In 2002 to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Ten Dance a live mix of Abyss was released at the legendary Sage Club, Berlin recorded on 09.12.2001. He was also responsible for the release of the “Best Of Ten Dance” CD compilation. Likewise in 2001, the tranquil producer released 7 Maxi singles, proving his musical versatility- ranging from Disco-House to Detroit Techno. The following year Abyss continued to widen his musical spectrum producing Minimal Tech-House tracks, releasing 6 records in 2002.
