Here we are, Episode TWO of THE MORPH HARDER PODCAST takes you on a wild ride of high energy hard beats. 

Continuing the theme, we delve into superb music which morphs with ever increasing increasing intensity. 

Kicking off with heavy hitting Tech Trance, Hard Trance, and Hard House, with the likes of Systembreaker, David Rust, and Renegade system. Building up into Hardstyle and U.K. Hardcore featuring the gigantic talents of Darren Styles, TNT, and Hixxy. 

Then on to the underground sounds of Freeform with the creative work of artists such as Rikki Arkitech, Eryk Orpheus, Fracus, and A.B. 

Finally we get more uptempo finishing the offering with the kick drum delights of artists such as Massive New Krew, USAO, and Mandidextrous. 
So lots to get your ears wrapped around, and this is only a selection.

I cannot believe it we have made it to episode 5 of the podcast! Time waits for no animal, vegetable, or indeed mineral, so we push forward with an explosive jumbo sized episode of 40 high quality rave tracks from across the hard dance spectrum. 

Despite guests being a recent addition to this podcast the first being last week, I have received so many quality mixes that this necessitates a double feature! These two artists are totally different in their offering in both mixing style and genre. We have D-Willz with a blistering reverse bass hardstyle mix, and M-Rei with a hard and fast 100% J-Core mix.

We made it Morphers! One whole year of the Morph Harder Podcast! I would never have thought I would make it to one whole year of the project as there was always concern it would be a distraction from writing music, however the opposite has been true, thanks to your support in donating, downloading, sharing, and emailing me, it has kept me inspired and engaged all year long.

This album project will be raising money for the Friends of Harvey Milk Photo Centre to honor the memory of Shawn (Bloodysnowman) following his sad passing. The album operates on a pay what you want system on Bandcamp, but those paying £20 or more will get the most excellent "Remix Everything" keyring. Big ups to Dave Skywalker for pulling together the project, it is no mean feat, but makes a massive difference both to the grassroots artists that get involved and the charitable causes which benefit.

Today the Morph Harder Podcast goes international, all the way to the far east (from my humble English perspective anyway). This months guest slot is taken up by the wonderful and talented human that is Aki, all the way from Japan. Aki is based in Tokyo and i first came across his work through participation in the Remix Everything Video Game Edition charity album project, where his track Hideaki Shimizu - Old & Gebol (Aki's Hardcore Remix) was voted no.1 by the artists involved. Myself and M-Rei are about to embark on an Asian adventure in October travelling to Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan in three weeks, so it only seemed fitting to represent music from that splendid and far away continent.

2024 is a new year and what an exciting one lies ahead for this humble little podcast. This passion project started with an idea to create a regular series where I could showcase the enormous variety of music in the harder styles, to bridge the gap between scenes, and eventually to showcase phenomenal talent in the form of guest mixes. It was always the intention to push new sounds and expose new perspectives on the hard dance music family of genres. All of this year's guests will be carefully selected in line with the Morph Harder vision and ethos.

So for this first guest slot of 2024 I am proud to present to you one of Japan's top production talents, the hugely versatile and unmistakable DJ Shimamura. Bringing the happy hardcore sound to the table in all it's guises taking influences from across it's rich history, Shimamura's style not only honors the past but brings in the future, a bright future at that.

No guest, but a feature mix from myself, an exclusive live set from Future focus in September last year all in anticipation of the upcoming event Future Focus Kick-Ons: CLSM Album Launch Party on the 27th April at the Orange Rooms Southampton.

Unfortunately I was made redundant from my job, but this formed somewhat of an opportunity as I had the time and money to build The Morph Harder HQ, a brand new music studio for me to be able to make better quality content, as well as really up my production game. 

So with two months of preparation this was always going to be a special episode, it represents over two full years of the Podcast!

Greetings Hard ravers this episode 25 of the Morph Harder podcast returning after a short hiatus I must say I was a little bit burnt out towards the end of last year and so I took a bit of a break and also it allowed me to provide me with the ability to reflect on the morph harder project.

What came with that reflection? Well I have so many projects on I needed to really reframe my approach to all the things that I put my energy into, for all sorts of different reasons, creative as well as health. What that means for the podcast is that there’s a slightly different format and frequency. I’m looking to release the podcast every two months and also trying to keep the podcast down to about an hour in time. This will free out my studio time and allow me to focus on delivering a quality product. This is the first podcast in that format and I'm super proud of it, definitly one for the freeform heads out there. 

We have a guest mix from Code-E, and we also have all of the usual sections such as Track of the Month, the Flashback Track and of course, the wild and wacky return of the Curveball Track. 

Without further, let’s crack on with some banging music and let's morph harder together by starting 2025 as we mean to go on; excellent music, good vibes, and showcasing the very best that the Underground has to offer.

The Morph Harder Podcast: Episode 29 featuring A.N.T

This mix is the result of a question that I threw out on my social media: "If I was to do a 90 minute UK Hardcore mix of a particular year and mostly under the radar tracks, which year would you choose?"

The result: 2005 won by one vote, with 2003, 2004 and 2006 being very close. 

The result is a mix made up of tracks that: were released in 2005, were still doing the damage on '05 dancefloors despite being released in previous years, were big in 2005 but not released until 2006, and tracks that I wish I had heard more often in the glorious year that is 2005. All this spanning 2 hours and 25 minutes.

Just like the premise of my original question, the mix does contain mostly under played, or under appreciated tracks, or tracks that did not become truly appreciated for their greatness until much later on. 

This is the product of two days work including the track curation, ripping of vinyl (and cleaning up said vinyl as much as the worn grooves and / or bad pressings would allow), recording the actual mix, and the final mastering. So, I hope you enjoy the fruits of the labour.

Ectomorph - 2005 Classic UK Hardcore

This mix is dedicated to David Laporta who sadly passed away on the 15th September. Myself, Ectomorph, first met David back in 2018 when we were both promoting parties, we were planning a huge collaboration project before Covid hit. His passion for the Hardcore scene was second to none, a mighty loss to our community.

At Back 2 Bass Kicks we had the pleasure of putting on two live streaming events with David Laporta, where we got to know the man well, and deepened our working relationship and friendship. 

David loved lots of music, especially hardcore, and when I was asked to perform a UK Hardcore Classics set on Rave Anywhere's Monday Madness Show with MC Smiley on Monday 21st September. I of course had to dedicate the set to the big man himself. 

This set is a rerecording of that set, as a few broadcast glitches resulted in gaps in the mix on the day. I decided to honour him properly by undertaking a redo, the mix is track for track and I tried to keep the transitions the same.
