Hello once again! Welcome back to our synodically recurring mix series 'Styles'; a sonic journey aimed at showcasing unique styles and subgenres nestled amongst the broad landscape of electronic dance music. As we cruise into the latter part of the year, we have arrived at episode number ten in our mix series. For this 33 minute mix, GRA.audio resident selector and Cincinnati native, Jetlag, digs into the high energy and fast paced genre known as UK Garage, displaying the depth and variety that this style has to offer.

"UK garage, or UKG, is an umbrella term for an array of electronic dance music (EDM) and urban music styles that emerged from the United Kingdom’s club scene in the 1990s. The garage house music scene originating in New York in the late ’90s gave rise to several British variants, including speed garage and 2-step, which were all eventually labeled as UK garage for the sake of clarity. The unifying factors in all of these forms were syncopated basslines and percussion—either two kick beats to a bar, or “2-step,” or the 4/4 pattern of house music at a tempo usually around 130 BPM. After producing hits by such artists as So Solid Crew, the Streets, and Craig David, UK garage was, like many forms of electronic music, usurped by newer styles, many of which it had helped create, such as dubstep, grime, and UK funky. However, the style enjoyed a semi-comeback in the 2010s, thanks to new music by many of its originators and new DJs and performers alike."

Incredibly proud to present: Essential Drip Volume: 4 - The Extract (An Exploration of Jungle) 

The 4th and final installment of the "Essential Drip" Series - this mix of 100% original compositions feels like the most fitting final chapter. 

This mix series was a creative experiment / exploration of 4 different styles of music (Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Lo-Fi & Jungle) , all unique and having their own specific elements and qualities. 

My aim with this series was to compose music that was true to what I currently view as the artistic perspective of the Pipe Leak project while simultaneously directing it through the prism of genres / styles that are drastically different. 

I hope you have enjoyed following along with these releases - the reception to them has truly made my heart feel whole.
