Ohxalá Liveset @ Gedankenklang Party - Crack Bellmer, Berlin

It is said that the Holy City of Benares (बनारस), India, is so ancient that it is held by the Gods themselves and that its visitors leave a part of their soul while passing through. What they bring back in return is unclear, but those who have been there could tell you that it has something to do with…magic!
For his first release, producer David Mears presents his debut track, “Varanasi”, as well as two variations. The first one is a an orchestral piece combining originals sounds from his personal footage shot in Varanasi, hang drum tunes (played by him), poignant cellos and clarinets. The second, “Sian Rava”, tells the story of a farmer meeting his past lives in the deep forests of Northern Thailand.
To complete this exciting yet intense musical journey, we cross mountains, jungles, oceans and continents to finally reach South America where the artists, Gama (Brazil) and Barda (Argentina), offer us their own reinterpretation of Mears’ pieces: as the first reshapes “Sian Rava” in order to plunge even deeper into the dark meanders of the soul and the latter turns “Varanasi” into a joyful chant led by the artist Gus’ voice, bringing the EP to a bright and colourful ending.

The Peruvian music producer Renzo Zong, hailing from Lima, takes pride in exploring native flow from his homeland. Seeking to represent his roots — from an anthropological vision of musical practices and sounds, Renzo has been recapturing the diversified Peru’s culture by his own way, being profoundly absorbed in those rhythms; mapping the ongoing fusion of electronic and traditional musical styles from Amazon to the Andes.

Our 145th edition drops an eclectic ethnological selection recorded on Ableton, following a psychedelic trend using tracks with expressive melodies and surprising arrangements. A touch of mystery runs through all over the mixtape, empowering steady slow drums, cloudy circumstances and interludes, mainly showcasing the insightful diverseness of his folklore level as one affair.

DJ Guasá es artista que cultiva los sonidos tradicionales del mundo con un especial enfoque en la rama Afro Colombiana. Además de un gran coleccionista de vinilos e instrumentos, Guasá es un querido amigo y artista de Cosmovision Records desde el día que comenzamos. Es por eso que comenzamos con él esta nueva serie de música tradicional en formato vinilo.

¨Esta sesión junta ritmos del campo colombiano, partiendo de la poesía andina del "Indio Romulo" y la música llanera, llegando a las costas Caribe y Pacífico. Hay una cumbia grabada en México por Aniceto Molina y un homenaje póstumo más reciente a Andrés Landero, "rey de la cumbia". También se disuelven las fronteras rítmicas en una cumbia de chirimía del Chocó. Está presente la resistencia de los ritmos tradicionales frente a la modernidad, bien sea en manera que se tocan o en la forma en que han sido grabados; no es una selección cronológica, porque las grabaciones más recientes muestran que son tradiciones más vivas que nunca en diálogo abierto con esa modernidad¨

¨DJ Guasá is an artist who cultivates the traditional sounds of the world with a special focus on Afro-Colombian sound, as well as a great collector of vinyl and instruments, Guasá is a dear friend and artist of Cosmovision Records from the day we started. That is why we started this new series with this great set of traditional music vinyls.
This mixtape brings together rhythms of the Colombian countryside, passing through the Andes and the Caribbean and Pacific coasts, a mixture of rural poetry by Indio Romulo and the llanera music that Colombia shares with Venezuela. There is a cumbia played in Mexico by Aniceto Molina and a more recent posthumous tribute to Andrés Landero, "king of cumbia". I wanted to try to connect this genre with other music of rural oral tradition and listen to how each landscape permeates them. A certain dissolution of rhythmic borders occurs in a chirimía playing cumbia, a kind of resistance of traditional rhythms against modernity, either in the formats of their interpretation or in the way they have been recorded.
This is not a chronological selection, because the most recent recordings show that the traditions are more alive than ever and maintain an open dialogue with that modernity.¨

Originario del sur de Buenos Aires Argentina, @lucaslead comenzó su carrera como productor y Dj en 2013 intimando con sonidos folk y cumbia con tintes de psicodelia amazónica y andina como parte de su naturaleza. 

De esta forma llega de poco en poco al beat típico de la música hecha para el dancefloor, transportándonos a través de sus producciones a un espacio místico donde se encuentra un interesante contraste entre lo futurista y étnico. 

En su recorrido lleva ya varios edits, singles y ep's liberados por los mas reconocidos sellos de vanguardia alrededor del globo.
