Naarm-based jazz instrumentalist and producer L Lewis teams up with Oakland-based Space Ghost for a remix of “Undertow,” a highlight from the new EP Intervals out on Bathtub Music on August 12th.

Space Ghost reshapes “Undertow” into a steady chug, blending his signature 1980s funk minimalism and analog boogie. With '80s house drums, synths, and warm bass lines, he brings a cosmic energy to L Lewis’ world of nu jazz, electronica, and ambient textures.

Following the release of Intervals—a nu jazz record shaped between Naarm and London—this remix acts as a bridge between underground scenes across continents, spotlighting two artists in constant evolution.

Here we go. The opening set of the first Dr33333ams party by Frinda di Lanco & Hendrik Stein does exactly what it says on the tin. Dreamy, flute-driven melodies melting into hypnotic drum patterns, 90s proto vibes meeting the fluorescent shine of the black light. The dj duo and initiators of the party with a penchant for vinyl records know their genres. Being able to resurrect with a fresh new dance-oriented concept after having just ended a colourful disco party series that used to be a collector's wet dream shows the couple's ability to grow and evolve, setting a focus on the dance floor experience, a raw and passionate moment to undergo. As always staying away from the obvious, Frinda & Hendrik have build their sound on the lesser known edge of progressive house, proto & freestyle house, HiNRG, euro dance, acid and trance. As a rather quiet force in time and space you can witness how the duo has put continuous hard work into musical research and refining their performance. Ahead of Saturday’s Dane’s Dance Emporium x Voyage Funktastique session this Saturday at Performance Works, we asked Walla P to contribute a mix to our Pacific Spirit series. 

As predicted, he did not disappoint! In our opinion (and many others) Walla P is one of the purest and most talented DJs in the funk, disco, and boogie sphere, and we can’t wait to see him do his thing here in Vancouver for the first time.

Here are a few words about his mix from the man himself…

“For this guest mix, I got inspired by listening to some of the previous mixes, lots of atmospheric/ambient grooves from records that came out over the last decade or so. Lots of stuff you don’t get to usually play, but I like to think that this could be the soundtrack for my flight to Vancouver.”

On October 10, 2025 Star Creature hosted a Techno Kayō Takeover: Rush Hour invaded Star Creature Vibes Radio for a special session of selections from and inspired by the recently released Techno Kayō Volume 1 compilation. Curated by two of the world's finest selectors and influential sound purveyors, Antal from Rush Hour in Amsterdam and Dubby from Ondas in Tokyo, the pair dive deep into the Japanese underground of obscure and abstract proto electro synth pop and boogie.

We got loose for over 4 hours worth of sonic explorations. The first hour is Antal playing some of his favorite Techno Kayō tracks followed by Dubby with a 30 minute mix of his faves.

The next hour begins the celebration of the newly released  Byron The Aquarius - Global Caress EP which was released to stores worldwide on October 10. Tim Zawada selects a few tracks from the record and mixes in a couple newer house leaning releases on Star Creature plus teases some upcoming white labels from artists such as LLL, Manny Steelo and Arsene. 

The final hour winds down with with TZ providing a selection of rare grooves, disco, boogie and jazz from around the world.

Dexter clearly know a thing or two about creating dance  oor moments, with each track exhibiting a classiness that belies his age.

Have It Like That kicks things off with a chugging, hypnotic feel and crisp drums providing the basis for a cool vocal hook and thick, warm bass.

No Time gets a shade deeper and no less funky, while Get To This points a little further towards the center of the dancefloor.
