We continue with the summer vibes with release #41 and welcome Roland Nights making his debut on Deep Edition, with previous on Lost My Dog & Amenti Music, Roland is no stranger to the deeper heads, his clean cut & solid sound dabbles in the past, carving out a great future for this Lancashire lad. 

Hide & Seek leads the way with mellow pads, Rhodes, warming bass line and snappy percs with an excellent catchy vocal delivering a stand out summer track, You & Me follows with a slightly deeper feel that flows beautifully, featuring gentle piano licks and rising chords layered over another great bass line. 

On Remix duties were massively excited to welcome isgud & DC10 favourite Tato well known for his awesome grooves and incredible DC warm ups Tato puts in a Noon mix suggesting a deeper take than his usual Skippy beats, but with its solid kick, great percussion and driving groove this is worthy of any Terrace! 

Timmy P is a name on everyone’s lips at the moment after dropping bombs on the mighty Local Talk & Love Not Money, he is very quickly becoming a house star, his take on Hide & Seek oozes his trademark raw 90’s flavour adding strings plus a great raw kick workout.

Deep Edition round off 2013 with the final Ep of the year coming from label Head Martijn,
with various remixes and originals spread throughout 2013 Martijn has been charted by DJ T 
and supported and played by Wild, Tuccillo, Andre Rozzo & Pawas to name a few.

His Rhythmatics EP features 3 Original tracks all moving towards the floor, 
the opener “I Need a Rhythm” focuses on a deep & dubby bass with the lead 
taken from an old dx7, “Stutter” ups the tempo adding a scattered vocal
with loose percussion and some vintage key stabs, 
“House moves” is the heads down floor mover featuring Piano stabs 
dotted in and around the deep chords.  

Martijn also has two 12” Eps landing early 2014 on Disrobe Records &
Hermine Records plus a remix of the Minimal classic Wayna by
Tania Vulcano & Tato, featuring on 5 Years of Isgud Remixed, with a full Ep

DER048 sees the infamous Sossa make his long awaited return to the label, this time delivering three original tracks that take you on a ride through shimmering soundscapes, sunset vibes and of course terrace-ready grooves. Sossa maintains his residency at Ibizan staple DC10 and continues to tour the world with the crazy circus all year round. Sossa’s new label Garbant Wave continues to impress with lots of original productions getting airtime and top remixes courtesy of Subb-an & Quenun doing the business. Sossa’s track “Consumer W***” recently featured on My favourite Robots' crossing wires series mixed & compiled by DC legend Timo Mass gaining massive applause all round.
On Remix Duties we're delighted to bring in one of our favourite artists right now, London’s very own Ashworth, playing DJ sets all over London including London’s clubbing institute Fabric and plenty of European gigs flooding in. Ashworth is going places and we're yet to mention his top quality productions on labels like Holic Traxx, NeedWant & Baasaal. Ashworth keeps within the soundscape style of the original but with plenty of analogue goodness and a great groove that sets the mix off beautifully for the floor!
To round off the package, Martijn throws in a dubbed out take of Arconada toughening up the beats and adding some Roland flare.

DER049 Welcomes Mystep to the label with his debut EP “Can’t Believe” featuring the mighty Beckford on vocals, the lead track is slick deep house consisting of rolling bass and crisp percussion with the fantastic vox of Beckford bringing it all together, you may recognise Mystep from Large & Lapsus Music and with forthcoming tracks out soon on Made fresh Daily, our very own Dudley Strangeways & Jamie Trench remixing things are looking good for this new kid on the block.

On remix duties were really excited to bring in Steve Huerta this guy needs no introduction to the vinyl heads with top draw releases on Dirt Crew, Manucci’s Mistress, Amadeus & Newington all doing the business of late with his on point productions. 
Finally Liam Geddes a young producer on a mission of late with his music doing no wrong and his diary getting worn out, his releases have hit 124, Music is Love & MIL all tearing up the dedicated floors. DER021 see’s label head Martijn return with only his second original outing on the label since its creation back in August 2010.  The past 12 months have seen a massive output from Martijn with nearly 25 tracks/remixes released in 2011 alone and featuring on great labels such as Save Room Recordings, Reisei Records, Savoir Faire Musique, Lens Media & Deso Records as well as picking up strong support from Chris Gruber, Evren Ulusoy, Feygin, LondonGround, Kruze & Nurenberg, Evans & Waterfall, Karol XVII & MB Valence, Bas Amro & Jesus Gonsev.

Party People Ep takes on a slower party vibe to the normal Martijn sound playing with disco influences and combining them with Deep House grooves resulting in a solid party vibe Ep aimed at bringing some swing and most importantly some fun into your set. 

On remix duties were very happy to welcome the man of the moment Marvin Zeyss with some very big and equally impressive releases under his belt his rise to stardom continues his “Next to you” remixed by Maya Jane Coles is still a firm favourite on the deep house scene and was massive this summer, his remix of Easy Lady takes the mix into a darker more techy atmospheres delivering an amazing mix for a the main room and tougher floors. 

Qmusse also a name on people’s lips is on fire at present with hot releases on the infamous Loco Records, Reisei Records & Exotic Refreshment, He delivers the second remix of Easy Lady taking the mix into a more melodic place adding some ace strings and pads and some amazing piano sections while maintaining a solid groove throughout and rounds of the package perfectly!

DER024 Welcomes back Graham Laverty another North East producer from Sunderland proving that the deep house scene up north is thriving with quality releases from the likes of Graham, Michael McLardy & Martijn from Deep Edition all making waves from the North East base. Graham is relatively new on the production front but has already gained huge support from the likes of Richie Hawtin, Nic Franciulli, DJ Sneak, Timo Maas and Ekkohaus to name a few!  Featuring on wicked labels like Pressure Records, Maktub Music & Tribal Rage his music is always solid and combines Deep and Tech seamlessly.

This Ep is no different and continues to show off what he knows best, this his first solo debut for the label after a cracking remix of Martijn’s Sweet Sound back in December 2010 see’s his Speaking of you playing with deeper shades of house layered over his solid techy groove, while Mainline goes all out for a mainroom shaker with a wicked bassline and catchy female vocal and absolutely solid tight beats!  

On Remix duties were very proud to bring in Nikola Gala an A* DJ and producer whos releases have been rocking floors for ages and featuring on labels like Freerange, Rekids & Claap. His massive “I Get U” featuring on the mighty Circoloco’s The Next Level compilation has seen his stature rise tenfold, his rework of Speaking of you keeps up with that quality and delivers a solid mix for the mainroom adding his own grooves taking the mix from the deep to the techy side of house.

To round off Martijn joins in on the remix action taking Mainline into darker waters pitching down the vocal and adding more groove taking the remix in a hole different direction.

Of the two originals, I'm feeling 'Speaking Of You' the most, really smart change-up when the bass comes through. Remix-wise Nikola's is a touch repetetive, but Martijn again proves he is totally on-point with a supremely paced deep vibe, the pick of the release for me.

DER029 Welcomes Lewis Palmer aka T.Lavonte making his debut for the label, with a 3 track Ep delivering amazing deepness from Fever Pitch and building nicely to the techy rhythmic sounds of Dirtbag and cooling off with the darker deep House sounds of Traumatic.   
Lewis is predominantly a London-based artist although originally from Amsterdam, he has been operating on the borders of Electronic/House music for a while, producing under various aliases. With some low key white label presses and other various releases under his belt and also playing alongside Richie Hawtin for Minus this producer is ahead of the crowd.

On Remix duties we are excited to welcome Matches, this guy is already very popular from his tracks and remixes with Danny Daze and after featuring on Noir, Toolroom, Defected & Draft this guy is literally about to blow up onto the scene in a big way! His style of cool crisp and really well produced house has seen him making big waves from over in Miami and with this remix he is on form, taking the lead track from the depths of deep into a mainroom groover.

On the B-side Martijn label head and artist of Neurotraxx Deluxe & Save Room provides a remix of “Still Got It” adding a touch of pace to the slowed vocal track and dubbing down the vocal giving the lush use of chords time to breath and roll over the new added groove.

Since then, Martijn’s penned originals for successful labels such as Kruse & Nürnberg’s Save Room Recordings, Karol XVII & MB Valence's Loco Records, Look Ahead Records & Leeds based Baker Street Recordings; amongst many other remix projects, picking up support from the likes of DJ Sneak, Marc Romboy (Systematic), Brothers Vibe, Boris Werner (Moon Harbour), Soul Minority & Huxley (Cécille).



Role models to any aspiring producers, Deep Edition Recordings addition to the line-up at Vertigo Festival this August, is testament to their hard work, professionalism, and irrefutable natural ability to create some of the most credible Deep House to have emanated from the UK over the past few years.

And, to say that we are extremely excited about what the label will be bringing to the mountains in August, would be an understatement...

Tell us your musical influences growing up and how you got into DJing and Producing?

Growing up I was always surrounded by music, mainly from my dad playing his records on a weekend, he likes all kinds of music but his Kraftwerk records really stood out to me, so different and still sound fresh. Being attracted to electronic music I got some turntables at the age of 13 and after learning to mix iv been doing it ever since.

Production was the natural progression for me, the next step so to speak after playing around with software for a while and been self taught it was a little daunting but my first ever Ep came out on 12” on Kinky Vinyl back in 2007 and iv been producing and remixing since then.

How would you describe your sound and style in just a few words?

Leading the way at Deep Edition Recordings, in which direction are you currently taking the label?

Onwards and upwards of course! We, as a rule don’t follow trends but try to keep a constant Deepness that our followers and peers have come to know and respect.

It's our understanding that the label is based in Durham, what challenges does that resent for a label if any?

Well, we could cry on and whinge about been isolated up here as there is not much of a scene in Durham its self, and were not in Leeds or Manchester but the North East scene as a hole is actually thriving, and we don’t have to go to far to join in with some of the best nights in the UK like Sample, Jaunt, Noc Noc & Shindig in Newcastle and Riffraff & Right-on in Middlesbrough, they all bring a wealth of top artists to the table every month!

Your "Italia 90" EP is due out mid to late April, what's the idea behind that, any special dedication or tribute to Italy?

The Italia 90 Ep is a concept that came together quite quickly, after been offered the chance to take part and play at the Vertigo Festival, I thought I could put some ideas together to create a vibe, to get across our excitement of been part of such a special event and of course bring back some childhood nostalgia with the title track, which everyone gets!



You've already been receiving great feedback, raise and support from X-press 2 to DJ W!ld, Tuccillo, Umek, Richard Belsom, Enzo Siragusa, tINI and Waif & Strays. How does it feel to get that kind of feedback about the EP?

Getting great feedback is always a good feeling and to receive it from your peers and favourite artists is a massive boost that keeps me motivated in what myself and the label dose. For the huge response I guess again the nostalgia of the 90’s, all the tracks feature a nod the 90’s house scene and it gets people buzzing.

Festivals are popping up everywhere these days and with every festival there is an effort to be different in some way, to have that extra appeal over the other festivals. What aspects do you feel not only make a good festival but also provide that difference?

What makes a good festival...Ultimately attention to detail…I think a lot of people can bang on a headline act and expect people to come but to make it different and more enjoyable is the detail, and from what I gather vertigo has it in droves, from the hand picked true underground djs on the line up, location and even the choice of fine local food, this is stand out stuff.

Looking at the Vertigo line-up, who will you definitely be making an effort to hear play?

100% Daniel Bortz huge fan of his sound and the Martinez Brothers cant do no wrong! Also the live set from Saytek also on Deep Edition!

What are you looking to do at the festival with the Deep Edition Recordings showcase?

Have fun! Create a wicked vibe and get people enjoying our sound that might not of heard of us before.

Do you know any Italian words or phrases?

Buone vacanze! (Enjoy your holiday!)

Will you just be at the festival for your set or do you plan on sticking around for the full shenanigans?

Myself, Michael McLardy and a bunch of friends will be staying for the full event if not longer!

Do you have any expectations for the Festival?

Hmmm, I expect it to be hot! Massive amounts of unreal House music and plenty of great times!!

DER039 See’s another brand new signing making their debut on Deep Edition in the form of two Austrian producers, Daniel Ressi & Markus Blahus together they form Woodcut.
Woodcut are two guys that met Djing back in 2011 and quickly realised they shared the same love and enthusiasm for deep vibrant house music.

Here they hit us with two outstanding originals, Sometimes & I Don’t, both flex catchy vocals classy stabs and really cool bassline grooves that certainly fit there vibrant deep house get up, and will very easily warm you up for the coming summer months. 

On remix duties were really pleased to welcome back Rekreation these boys have been making huge waves since their first appearance on Deep Edition around this time last year, since then signing the Control / Before Me EP to Noir Music taking them to the next level.  

Also on remix duties we’ve enlisted the mighty Brame! It seems this very talented young man can’t fall off, with super releases on Morris Audio & IDIOSYNC and a firm favourite here at deep Edition for a while now, he takes his version of “Sometimes” into the Deep and delivers with amazing results. 

We feel this is a very strong Ep, please feel free to make some noise about it, in your sets, charts and radio shows, as always thank you for your continued support and precious time!!
