Ever since the German producer known as Claptone got his start just a year ago, he has been awarded artist of the year on the German Trendcharts DCC 2012, and has held his spot on Beatport’s Top 10 Tracks in the deep house category. So, without surprise, Claptone brought in 2013 with a fresh EP that is still at the top of the charts today.
No Eyes, which features the vocals of Jaw from dOP has been getting love from all over the world including plays by Annie Mac and Pete Tong ('Essential Tune') on BBC Radio 1 who named Claptone 'Future Star of 2013' at the beginning of the year.
It’s a gripping deep house production with an expressive melody, driven by the low and eerie bass line. The airy keyboard chords gives it the personality of a dark, daydream vibe, while the progression is rhythmic and funky. It may come as a surprise to some, that in 2014, Armada Music appears to be making its first foray into a chill compilation. After all, Armada tunes have been essential to countless chill-out compilations for over a decade. Ever since the Gabriel & Dresden Chill Mix of Motorcycle's 'As the Rush Comes' first took over the world, the record label has produced a constant string of tracks and remixes that have found their way to relaxing locations around the globe. And now, overflowing with talent and tunes, the time has come to give each special song a new home.

From the soul-wrenching instrumentation of Michael St. Laurent's 'All Gone', to Moe Turk's jazz-infused opener, to a couple of spaced-out beauties courtesy of Rodg, the only unifying factor in this compilation is exquisite, blissful calm. From bedroom setups to street recordings to highend studios, spanning melancholic folk, electro pop and apocalyptic R&B, ‘Midtown’ is the culmination of years JAW has spent connecting with likeminded artists, challenging himself to use his unmistakable voice in different ways. Placing the emphasis on
having fun, whether the music be dark and obtuse, or upbeat and flamboyant, the result is nineteen different recording spaces with nineteen different textures, ensuring that no two moments on ‘Midtown’ feel the same.

Friendship, love or one’s own self-discovery – everything begins with this simple question: Who Are You?

With a Caribou’esque light-footed breeze, the Erfurt-based band combines the sometimes moody, sometimes confident voice of singer Martin Hansmann with Sebastian Klausing’s subdued house beats, before Robert Fränzel is pushing the right keys on his saxophone.

Zurich-based duo Animal Trainer who are up for remix duty are not only an instance of the legendary Hive Club, the Swiss duo have also revealed their passion for pop songs with plaintive vocals on such labels like Katermukke and Stil vor Talent. Their remix of „Who Are You“ is operating with a unique sense for playful synths who are soaring into crazy-wacky acid pirouettes.
