Downtown Party Network already come with an excellent pedigree of disco licked tunes for quality imprints like Eskimo, Is It Balearic? Recordings and Dirt Crew. And so the debut appearance on Futureboogie seems like a most comfortable fit, with the ‘Disco Ball Drama’ extended player providing three shining examples of delicious grooves.

Title cut, ‘Disco Ball Drama’ cuts a familiar beat with a rolling and gritty acid-like arpeggio, the classy pads smoothing out the rougher edges and providing huge swashes of sunshine moments on this real mid-season winner.

‘Keep On Running’ on the flip side turns out a heads down, boogie-fest, with its elastic bassline, deep Rhodes chords and lively percussion doing the business here.

Closing the release is ‘No Drama Afterhours’, going down the cosmic alley for a slightly deeper cut. Spatial pads and looping syth arps gently collide over the swinging disco drums whilst the bass plays out an infectious melody, one for the ‘afterhours’ indeed.

With the magical voice of Egyptian singer Ahmed Elsawy sung over the intelligent electronica, ethnic and acoustic instruments, ‚Sketches Of Pain‘ can be seen as a meet-up of two cultures. Laconia features collaborations with fellow producers Cioz and Cook Strummer, as well as a special apparition by Sam’s paternal figure playing the Oud on Mirage. The tracks explore a diverse array of dispositions, from groovy up-warmers such as Mangata or Louna to more lively dancefloor aggregators such as Kamala Bani, on to the deeply polarizing, whirlwind synth dinger Guz or the more experimental self-evident Not Much To Say.

A novel detail makes an appearance on Je te vois, an acoustic electronic dance number with poetic lyrics tenderly sung in French for the first time. The artist’s romantic side also shows through the mystical elements interspersed throughout, from the spellbinding Encanto to the dreamy soundscapes of Atreyu, named after the famous German fantasy book character.

Thanks to a modest key riff and more cosmic effects, Aubade lends its meaning of “greeting in the sun” to the atmosphere, rounding off the release on an incandescent note.

With almost 30 years of releasing records under his belt, Dino Lenny has naturally built an incredible back catalogue of productions, remixes and collaborations. 

He’s worked with some of the biggest names in the business, yet his own productiaons retain a distinct, personal style that is all his own. 

With Camouflaged, Lenny drops polished, groovy dance music that will light up many floors this year. 

The original version rides a solid motorik beat, allowing for moody piano elements and a haunting vocal to take the track to another level. 

Lenny’s sense for drama and space is preserved on the Black and White mix, but with a straighter house groove aimed firmly at the late night dancers. 

Hafendisko regular Brynjolfur also adds his own interpretation of Camouflaged - a driving electronic workout with a filthy, mutating bassline and dramatic pads.
