We are proud to present the 23rd instalment of our Mix Series by Teniente Castillo (@tenientecastillo)! 

The Madrid-based DJ and producer is one of the key figures in dark disco scene, running his infamous Play Pal Music (@playpalmusic) label since 2012 where he released many great artists through out these years who trust him in his eclectic vision for music.

Besides having played some of the finest clubs in Europe in abroad in the last two decades he has released on labels such as Ombra Intl, Roam and Relish and regularly puts on legendary events in his home town, Barcelona and Berlin.

Listening to Teniente Castillo's mixes, you can imagine his sultry, driving sonics soundtracking the action on Miami Vice; the inspiration behind the Madrid-based producer and DJ's name.

On home turf he's been an advocate for pushing these psychedelic, slow burning sounds, be it through his own output, his DJ sets, sporadic parties or, most prominently, through his Play Pal Music imprint.

For over a decade he's been steering the label through dark and deep waters, which has become a home for artists synonymous with this vibe and style; the likes of Mufti, Vox Low and Curses, to name a few.

It's been a home for several of his own tracks and remixes too, whilst beyond Play Pal he's delivered music on labels with a similar ethos and output to his own, including Ombra Intl, Relish, Roam, Tici Taci, Playground Rec and Sinchi Collective.

He's selective with the mixes he puts together, beyond those shared through his own platforms, so we're honoured to have him contribute to our series with an hour of the heady sounds that he's become known for.

With the inaugural outing on Vivrant in the ‘Taiga’ EP making the number 1 spot on Beatport’s Top 100 Progressive releases chart and number 2 overall, Jeremy Olander set the tone for his new imprint in a big way.

Hellbent on exceeding expectations with every drop on Vivrant and staying true to his word of using his new platform to do whatever he wants, Jeremy has decided to, at last, let his Dhillon monicker out of his proverbial cage. 

With a darker and more drum-oriented sound, Dhillon was last sighted on Adam Beyer’s Drumcode and the highly regarded A-Sides compilation series. With back-to-back appearances in 2013 and 2014 with ‘Layerleaf’ and ‘Lost’ respectively, Dhillon now makes a much anticipated return with a first-ever three-track offering in the ‘Intro’ EP. 

Comprised of saw tooth bass-laden and groovy opener ’Intro’, forceful peak-time banger ‘Umbra’ and dark, sinister ‘Black Widoe’, the EP is a diverse yet cohesive body of work. It demonstrates Olander’s unearthly ability to seamlessly float between styles and adds to an already awe-inspiring resumé that looks like one of a hardened veteran, not a 28 year old vowing he’s only starting to get his feet wet.
