For nearly a decade, Tycho has been known as the musical alias of Scott Hansen, but with the release of Awake – his second LP for Ghostly International – the solo project has evolved into a three-piece band. Relating closer to post-rock than ambient soundscapes, the record is situated in the present, sounding more like Hansen than drawing from his influences. “This is, in many ways, the first true Tycho record.”

Following 2011’s Dive LP, the San Francisco-based designer toured extensively, and with a full band on stage, his sound coalesced into a percussive, organic whole. Zac Brown (guitars, bass) rejoined Scott on the road for this tour, but it was the particular addition of Rory O’Connor’s live drumming that ultimately sent Hansen back to the studio with a more precise vision. “After the tour, I decided that I wanted to capture the more energetic, driven sound of the live show on the next album,” Hansen recalls. Bringing musicians into Tycho’s creative process was a step towards expanding his own songwriting and advancing the project beyond its current sound.

In a cabin near Tahoe last winter, Zac and Scott began fleshing out the structure of the new record, but it wasn’t until they set up shop in the hills of Santa Cruz with Rory that it all fell into place. “It crystallized the vision of how the drums would come to the forefront on this record,” says Hansen. The sound was much more stripped-down and concise with more organic instruments in the fold. Songs like “Montana” and “Awake” are a departure from Tycho’s previous material – unique to the group effort poured into the songs on the new record – while “See” and “Dye” echo ideas from previous works, bridging a middle ground between the old and new. Working with Count Eldridge, who also engineered Dive, the team could fixate on the pulses that Tycho might previously layer under synthesizers and exhume them with distinct bass and guitar patterns.

Also known for his design work as ISO50, Hansen’s visual and sonic efforts have dovetailed throughout the course of his career. “This is the first time in my life I've dropped everything to focus on one artistic pursuit,” notes Hansen. Previous Tycho releases came to fruition when an amalgam of songs were nearing completion, but Awake is where music becomes the focus and true expression becomes the result.

A memorable moment from Anjunadeep 06, the energetic original mix has been a mainstay in James Grant and Jody Wisternoff’s DJ sets this year. Fellow rising stars Journeyman take on remix duties, stripping down the peak-time power of the original for a more mellow rolling style, with a buoyant groove carrying the track through flowing chord stabs and the distinctive vocal hook.

Self-disclosed as an artist ‘between house and techno’, Lausanne-based newcomer Jeremy Vieira aka Several Definitions rolls out his first release on SVT, 'No Artificial'.

The EP opens up with ‘Wind and Waves’, a dark tech-house build up with uplifting synths accented by avian trills that give the track an eerie jungle mood, tailored for the late night freaks. Boy Next Door is enlisted to add more depth and pace, turning the track into an even more profound nocturnal exploration, underlined by swirling analog synths.

The 7-minute long ‘Intro,’ of which we exclusively premiere today, speaks for itself, as it gradually introduces the artist’s core sound elements that can be recognized shape shifting throughout the EP. Several Definitions hauled KlangKuenstler for the remix, giving the track a complete club anthem makeover with an infusion of wobbly synths and extra groove. ‘No Artificial Comments’ showcases yet again the artist’s knack for propulsion, as metronomic throbs develop a hypnotic synth-laden, last-track-of-the-festival, eyes-to-the-sky kind of feeling.

SoHaSo (Something Happening Somewhere), the label run by ormer Trouw resident Nuno dos Santos, is celebrating the summer with not one, but two compilations. Selecting unique pieces by artists known and unknown, the SOMEWHERE series feels like a sound-based confessional. Telling unheard stories, exposing unseen surfaces and unheard sounds.

SOMEWHERE I and II are set to be released digitally, a vinyl sampler with a selection of the tracks featured in the full compilations and as well as a very limited run of CD’s. Something is happening somewhere, once again.

The first release contains some true sonic pieces of art, by contributors that have erected the label's reputation in the first place: Love Over Entropy, Presk, Sigward and of course Nuno Dos Santos himself.

The Premiere featured today comes from Polynation, who brings us a nearly 9-minute thriller in the form of 'Anther'.

Once again tracks from the latest Argy & Mama album have been given a reinterpretation by the hands of talented remixers from very different camps. This time Alan Fitzpatrick, Rampa and Mike Starr are stepping up with their contributions. Premiering here is the Fitzpatrick rendition, who has injected a good dose of dark magic to "Without Me“. 

Buoyed by the whirlwind success he has achieved since emerging as the hottest name in techno in 2008, Alan Fitzpatrick is currently at the top of his game. On the back of a standout 2014, Fitzpatrick’s underground momentum has seen him garner a wider fanbase resulting in the Englishman’s stock rising rapidly thanks to a profile-boosting Ibiza season and multiple end-of year accolades, most notably a debut entry at 85 in Resident Advisor’s Top 100 poll. He has released on such labels as Drumcode, Suara and 8 Sided Dice.

Kind souls that we are we've taken it upon ourselves to alleviate your back to work blues and brighten up the beginning of your week and thing we've found the perfect thing to do just that in the form of Martin Roth's chilled out remix of​ Paradisko's new single 'Fool'.

Set to arrive November 8th via Istanbul based imprint High Above The Ground as part of a package that also includes a remix from Final DJs, 'Fool' sees Paradisko continue the rich vein of form that first brought them to our attention and follows on from a number impressive releases and remixes for the likes of Silhouette and French outpost On The Fruit Music.

Reshaping Paradisko's original into a distinctly lighter form, we're sure you'll be hearing plenty of Martin's disco fuelled rework on the dance floor over the coming months.

Russian singer and producer Jama has teamed up with Bryan Milton for our next single, "Like A River". This stunning downtempo gem is accompanied by innovative interpretations by US-based producer Cobalt Rabbit and Finnish label veteran Jani R.

The Original Mix takes off with lush, floating pads, which construct a breathtaking atmosphere. Calm and refreshing percussion lines are added, and Jama's spell-binding vocals follow suit shortly thereafter. As the song progresses, brilliant melodies and sound effects are introduced, and subtle piano notes provide extra texture later.

Cobalt Rabbit's remix begins with a haunting soundscape, while a strong, intriguing bassline slowly starts to emerge beneath. Throughout the track, numerous mesmerizing melodies are added, as well as fascinating percussion work and vocal effects.

A truly astonishing atmosphere is introduced in Jani R's remix. Impressive sound effects, lush rhodes chords, and Jama's intriguing vocals combine amazingly well. A tiny piano melody appears later, which easily blends into the already astounding soundscape. Jani also provided an 'Ambient Dub' version of "Like A River"; this take centers around an array of hypnotizing pad layers and incredible sound textures.

Over the years Deeperfect was home to some of the biggest techno producers in the world. However, Stefano Nofernini's label always understood that an important role of any big label is to nurture and support new talent out there. Soldier Fly EP is an amazing example to how the label does this. This release takes the promising female duo "ME & Her", known for its colorful style, and empowers it with two giants from different spectrums of the techno scene. The first, Bristol's Dupspeeka made his huge breakthrough with his debut release at Drumcode in early 2015, and the second is Deeperfect's label owner who safely leads the label in its so colorful way. The three original ME & Her tracks are faithful to the duo's style: a beautiful combination of dominant synths and percussion elements. The remixes attempt to take the original melodic creations and add the dance floor drive that both Dubspeeka and Nofernini, yet, without harming the unique style of the two talented women. The result is yet another "must have" release from Deeperfect.

Off the back of his debut Arc EP, Kamera's second voyage on Erol Alkan's Phantasy Sound label continues to expand his "visionary take on modern electronica." It comes in the form of Ventoux – a four-track EP reflecting back on the producer's own experiences of cycling Mont Ventoux, the gruelling 'Beast of Provence' mountain range in France, and providing the name of his most concise and intriguing opus yet. Title track "Ventoux" resonates long after the closing chords have faded. It stands out in poignancy compared to the rhythmic emphasis of the three cuts surrounding it. Chiming synths sustain the melody that loops dreamily throughout, allowing yourself to momentarily drift off into the open soundscape Kamera has painted. Ventoux blends the physical and cerebral with ease, in a sound that is both "refreshingly futurist, yet completely timeless."

Ventoux drops on 29th January 2016.

There rarely is a musician to be seen, who feels home in more than just one musical genre the way Matthias Vogt does. In both working as a jazz musician and being a DJ/Producer, Matthias holds the ability to bring together the best of both, creating his very own unique style and music.

The Frankfurt-based jazz pianist, DJ, arranger, and producer's music has been released on Large Music, Blossom Kollektiv, Komplex de Deep, Lazy Days, Saw Recordings, and Frankfurt’s finest Polytone Records. A DJ since the mid nineties, Matthias experienced dance music’s fast growing and constantly altering change as a part of Frankfurt’s vital club scene, performing regularly at Sven Väth’s Cocoonclub. Matthias also played gigs at clubs such as The End in London, Club 11 - Amsterdam, Tresor, Cielo, and Arma 17 in Moscow and gigs around the globe.

Having assembled quite the back catalogue over the past decade, from being one half of Motorcitysoul on Aus Music and Freerange Records, to the six albums released by his popular jazz ensemble [re:jazz], Matthias Vogt now joins the Anjunadeep family with "Seven Summit"s EP and three heartfelt house numbers.

been feeling very inspired by new sounds and styles lately... i've been wanting to try some different vibes on a tune for awhile now, but have been waiting for the right track, and i think this one was perfect. MIIA's voice is just so haunting and emotional, and it felt super natural to go future bass on it, while still trying to make it sound like me. This one was such a blast to work on, many trap arms were had in my studio during the making of this, hope you guys love it!

Monkey Safari’s third album comes in perfect time for the summer sunshine. The duo follow up their last LP, ‘Odyssey’, with this warm, inviting collection of music designed to brighten your day and complement the glorious sunny days that bless us during the summer.

Sven and Lars learned some valuable lessons from their last long-player, and the new album ‘HI’ comes from a far more relaxed, easy-going place. An organic project that came together quite naturally, their third album sees the duo in high spirits ready to bring a large dose of positive vibes and emotional depth to the party.

Kicking off with ‘Sturm’, we’re immediately immersed in a world of wistful vocals, haunting pads and emotive synth lines. This is music made to move your body and your soul. As an introduction to the album it’s ideal, providing a great juxtaposition between brooding melancholy and uplifting vibes.

Next up is ‘Parallel Lines’, a sombre yet inspiring cut that takes us deep into Monkey Safari’s world. The folk-esque vocals ride the instrumental, which stirs your emotions giving the listener chills up and down their spine. ‘Shangri La’ is a slow burner that wouldn’t feel out of place on the Playa at Burning Man. The sultry cut builds into a crescendo of emotive sounds with a break in proceedings leading into a spine-tingling drop.

Title track ‘HI’ truly embodies the sound of the album. One of those tunes that will resonate with audiences all over the world, the universal feeling of joy it transmits has already been lifting dance floors at festivals and clubs across the world as Sven and Lars have been roadtesting it in their sets for some time now.

‘Breed’ follows next, with a more downtempo pace allowing space for contemplation. The carefully programmed beats and chimes set a calm tone, encouraging a myriad of thoughts and feelings to rise to the surface. This one builds into cacophony of strings and keys, all delicately aligned to keep the atmosphere meditative. Next is ‘Red’, a more pulsating, insistent cut with a surefire dance floor vibe. Techno fans will be relishing this cut with its hypnotic riff and scintillating pad work.

‘New Day’ lives up to its title, evoking the feeling of those twilight hours when you’re leaving a club at dawn and the day is just beginning to get started. Monkey Safari slowly unveil the brighter side of this cut, in the same way the sun can creep up from the horizon to share its warm glow. ‘Shelter’ brings more emotional depth, with a mournful motif supporting the vocal clip. This one grows into a spinetingling affair with a breakdown that uses new wave-esque synth lines to really get you pumped with energy.

The penultimate track ‘Walls’ utilises a silky vocal once again to take us into a joyous zone. This is the kind of track that encourages you to get close to a loved one, share an intimate embrace and close your eyes as the vibrations take you to another dimension. Slow, seductive and soulful in equal measure.

Finally, ‘Love To Exist’ closes the album. A love-filled song produced with passion by the duo, who leave the listener on a high with this final cut. Kick back and soak up the warm vibes, listen to the words and fill your heart with love.

Fabled duo VIKTOR TALKING MACHINE offers the next Monaberry release. Their track LINE briefly brushes the club with a colorful groove, catchy claps, and sweaty breaks. Intense synth chords merge with hypnotic ethno-vocals into a rich track with a rousing vibe. Italo Brutalo injects line with a shot of 80s House, thus creating a fluorescend remix for the hottest hours at the club.
JOKO moves straight to the dancefloor, mesmerizing all senses with a fairytale arrangement, goosebumpy melodies, and a warm synth line. Freeride Millenium head to St Petersburg and the Delicate Features duo for another excellent EP that follows previous great outings on the label.

This pair is made up of singer Radmila Nikogosian and composer Pavel Astvatsaturian and they have consistently put out music that grabs the imagination. Labels like Not Not Fun as well as Freeride Millenium have released their sounds and ensured the pair grow ever more prominent in the scene with their superbly emotional music that draws on ambient, abstract and downtempo.

Opening up the EP is ‘Brume’, a widescreen ambient masterpiece that has fluttering keys and gorgeous pads extending off to the horizon. The majestic ‘Because I Want To’ introduces gentle drums but the focal point again is the exquisite melody, deft keys and angelic vocals that bring heavenly feel.

The halfway point is marked by the super slow and heavy drums of ‘Nude’, a spacious dub cut with ambient beauty soothing your soul, then ‘Pulkovo Lights’ is an eight-minute journey into bumpy rhythms that feature more fantastic synth craft and grand composition. This most delightful of musical trips closes with the stunning melancholy of ‘Way Home’ which has vulnerable keys and acoustic guitars drifting in space.

This is timeless music that is beautifully crafted and is utterly absorbing from start to finish.
