Welcoming Ukrainian artist The Organism to the TAU family with this delightful EP. Roman Yarmolenko began his career back in 1999 as DJ Alfred, and made quite a name for himself. But he made a conscious shift into the underground in 2013, finding more satisfaction and joy in pro- ducing music that didn’t fit into mainstream ideals. Over the years since he has established himself as a formidable producer, landing releases with labels such as Diynamic and Disco Halal. Now he’s joining the TAU squad for his debut EP Ups And Downs after testing the waters a while ago on the label’s Spektrum 2 VA...

The title track gets this EP off to a glorious start, demonstrating The Organism’s ability to craft tension-building dance floor bombs. Fueled by a guitar-esque riff, the track grows from rather sombre beginnings to a crescendo led by a catchy, yet indecipherable vocal sample. At this peak, he creates a scintillating breakdown, which takes us into the latter part of the track which continues the funky rhythmic dance up until the very end.

Next time is the aptly-titled ‘Conquistador’, which begins with a whirring low end guiding us into more low frequency oscillations and a macabre atmosphere. Slowly more unusual sounds and effects are added, though it remains minimal in its architecture until we hit the first breakdown. After which point, the energy increases with additional percussive elements creating a sense of urgency. Another breakdown heralds the final segment, with vocal clips utilised as instrumental layers and the hypnotic rhythm keeping you locked throughout.

Lastly, ‘Cowboy’ keeps things on the dark side. The Organism’s ability to craft stirring atmospheres is evident from the start, his deft touch gently builds this one into a vibrant workout. A huge breakdown really sets this track off, and we’re sent flying into the second part of the track full of excitement.

The dynamic Berlin duo, better known as The Reason Y, return to Second State with a brand new EP entitled 'Density'. After last years debut, the duo have been working tirelessly to deliver a massive three tracker and they have managed to do just that as well as locking in heavy hitter Nick Curly for a stellar remix to guarantee a monumental record. Opening things up is the title track 'Density' and it certainly delivers the trademark TRY sound with crisp, racing hi-hats and low rumbling bass. As signals of bold sirens resonate through fields of sonic indulgence, the duo commandeer a journey into cosmic spaces. Followed by 'Sunwaves' which is the duo's ballad to the Romanian festival they first played last summer.  Laced with grooving low end and sun drenched atmospherics, 'Sunwaves' is the aural illustration of exactly what you would expect from one of the world's finest festivals where the water meets the dance floor on an exotic Romanian beach. On the flip side, the duo take a step back and drop the heady down-tempo number 'Whisper' where percussive grooves fill the blank silent palette as washes of mischievous pads create the feeling of being lost deep in the jungle while a whispering voice guides the listener towards some vacant hope of finding a native estate. To wrap things up, we turn to the one and only Nick Curly for his twist on ‘Whisper’, and in true Curly fashion he delivers a bomb. Swirling tones are draped over an infectiously loopy groove as surges of white noise grow, constantly taking the levels of energy to new heights while the original vocal is brought to the front to ensure a trippy trek into the grandiose areas of late nights.

Release Info: 
The final act unfolds. Chapter 24 serves up a powerful 13 track album that finds a wealth of originals from Masaya’s debut, Picking Up The Pieces, getting the Editions treatment by top artists including Ripperton, Petar Dundov, Patrice Baumel, Johannes Brecht and many more. They make for essential listening. 

First out of the bag, Kurt Baggaley flips Walking Dad into a deep spine tingling number that will infuse and fill the dance floor with warmth and soul. Love over Entropy’s take on Haumea is deep but more driving, with slick synth modulations colouring the grooves, then Swiss master Ripperton builds lots of tension with his brooding techno remix of Flow of Tears. 

As well as a starry and cosmic Edition from Nhar, a tense and edgy take from Neil Flynn and a melodically excellent variation from Croatian Petar Dundov, the album includes a slow and haunting rework from David Durango and a skittish, broken beat kicker from Patlac.

The final third of the collection hones in on simmering techno from Johannes Brecht, a loose house roller from VVerses and masterfully seductive and steamy tech house from Patrice Baumel. Closing things out in fitting style are a rumbling epic from Malbetrieb and THC, and Paul Nolan’s delicate take on Time Goes Fast.

These works all breathe plenty of new life into the still standout originals from the Swiss Chilean artist and are sure to do plenty of damage on the dancefloor this summer. The 24th Chapter is at last revealed in full.
