German icon Stephan Bodzin is globally recognised on a number of fronts - his live show is one of techno's most celebrated, his productions constantly push the genre forward with his own trademark sound. He has put out well-received solo long players Liebe Ist and Powers of Ten as well as worked on many other iconic projects under a range of aliases.

'Nothing Like You' was written in a hotel room before Stephan's last pre-lockdown gig.

Boavista is another exquisitely crafted album of rich, synth-heavy electronic music that takes you into new worlds of emotion and leaves you in awe.

The Saqqara EP is a multilayered, sonic canvas from the mind of Chris Barratt, as he launches his new alias, Barratt, for Life and Death. Fine brushstrokes move from all areas of his musical hideout, spreading over five, varied, aural sculptures, each one warping and weaving on its own cosmic trajectory. Pooling from key aspects of his Eagles & Butterflies project, Barratt induces new musical shades, hinting at moments of disco and funk, through a lens of psychedelia. 

The title track is a late-night floor-filler - a bold yet uniquely personal necropolis built from riveting delays and arpeggiators. Time Bending sees DJ Tennis join in, stepping up with his trademark, rough around the edges production aesthetic, en route to unknown destinations. Barratt hones-in on a confident, stripped-down style on Khaos - rhythm versus melody -  just in time for festival season. 1983 soundtracks a ride to utopia on a rocket-fueled Vespa, leading to Collider, the land of un-quantised madness, where the most treasured of synthesisers live amongst their drum machine counterparts. 

Flowing yet incredibly interconnected, Saqqara is best interpreted as a mini artist album - the first of many Barratt offerings.

Space meets rhythm on Moonwalks Galactica EP, brimful of intergalactic grooves in the shape of four dance-heavy original tracks. Opener Galactica sets the tone with electric pads and spacious, echo-ridden synths that create a playful yet compelling melody with a highly memorable bassline. Euplea is arguably the most stirring cut of the four, with a whirlwinding pad and incessant bass that emerge from the first bar. Nocturna brings forth equally spatial sounds, arched around a massive build up with a breathtaking drop. Its the perfect drama-infusing track, an ace in the sleeve when deployed at the right timing. Channeling huge drums in a tribal-like ambiance, Endless creates suspense through minimal layers and lofty pads, rounding off the release in a well-timed manner.

PREMIERE: Moonwalk - Galactic (Original Mix) [Stil Vor Talent]

'The Dutch upcoming artist Colyn (@colynmusic) is the one who puts a stamp on the third EP of Infinite Depth. With two spacey and great mixed originals he laid more than a good foundation for the remixers. The title track ‘Passengers’ got remixed by the French brothers Esoteric Circle (@esotericircle) and the second original ‘Orbital Hypnosis’ got infused by the one and only Erly Tepshi (@erlyofficial).  

With the first track ‘Passengers’ the EP immediately starts off pretty determined. Soon the firm kick gets accompanied by a some pounding drums and well placed spacey synths, sounding like passengers finding their way through our universe chased by those thrilling drum sounds. 

Esoteric Circle managed to take the thrilling part of the original to a higher level with their remix. The spacey synths are making place for an appealing melody which increases the tension. This tension holds on till the very end of the track.

After being in a continuous state of space and tenseness the third track ‘Orbital Hypnosis’ adds some euphory. With its compelling break and hypnotical plucks it keeps you in a higher state of mind.  

Erly Tepshi’s remix takes you even a little bit higher by using this compelling melody as main flow through his remix. Only this flow makes some unexpected changes at the points Erly injected his typical, sometimes even distorted, plucked synths. With a heavy a breakdown almost at the end of the track this remix brings the EP to an end.'

Two of the most earnest techno acts in the scene, ARTBAT links up with Matador and his RUKUS imprint for their debut collaboration 'Apollo 11' - a direct and out of this world two-tracker named after the first successful moon landing.

The Kiev-based duo and the Irish DJ-producer have handed the title-track over to Mixmag ahead of the record's release on March 15. With its driving rhythmic elements, vigorous pads and lively arpeggiator breakdown, 'Apollo 11' is a tune that has gotten nothing but an ebullient reaction from dancefloors all around the globe.

Denis Horvat returns to Afterlife Recordings for a second EP of distinctive, dancefloor productions.

A year after ‘Modelo’ comes ‘Miracle Of The Rose’, an evocative and authentic development of Horvat’s sound. On ‘Noise’, the vocals of Lelah give way to a stripped-down, reverberant groove. The title track rises with a free-flowing melody before dropping a tough, angular beat. ‘Divin’ is the EP’s deepest cut, before digital only track ‘Royale’ rounds off this diverse release with flair.

Italian gentleman Musumeci returns to Engrave with a seven-tracker dedicated to the 'good ol' days' of arcade video games and thus it's no surprise that the EP goes by the name 'Arcade'. Musically the co-label founder delivers tracks whose features can be pinpointed to the 80s and, opposing to the retro influence, soundscapes that have dominated the electronic music scene over the past years. So in conclusion 'Arcade' is a versatile and multi-faceted piece of work. Aside from five own tracks Musumeci teamed up with Sisio and Phunkadelica for 'Where Are You?' respectively 'Labyrinth'. The latter certainly has a strong New Wave influenced vibe, as careful followers and listeners of Phunkadelica, might expect and are familiar with. However, Musumeci's inimitable groove and synth-pad-ish sounds go hand in hand with Phunkadelica's approach and create a musical symbiosis based on concord yet the contrasts have an inspiring virtue on each other.

Musumeci's 'Arcade' EP will be released on Engrave Ltd on September 13th, 2019.
