This week´s AMFM is the fourth hour of a 7 h set that I played in a very special location. The club is called Distillery and is in Leipzig Germany. It is the longest running club that I have played at in my DJ career. My first gig there was part of the Harthouse 100 Tour in September 1996. The club has an upstairs floor and a downstairs basement floor. The basement is the smaller of both floors and that was the one I got to play in 1996. Since the club now goes into its final year, I wanted to once more play in the basement, so I did an all night long set on May 25th 2022. I started at midnight and ended shortly after 7 in the morning, playing quite a few classics as well. Sadly, due to a technical issue, I didn't manage to save a tracklist, so I appreciate any help that I can get with that in the comments from all of you! (Well I know what I played, it is just quite a lot of work to reconstruct that...) I hope you enjoy this whole set, it was very special to me and quite emotional at times, as I had loads of great memories popping up during my time down there, from all the amazing times that I got to have in this fantastic venue over the years. A big thanks goes out to the whole crew of the club, especially to Steffen, who has been running this place passionately since the beginning and is currently preparing the move into a new location by January 2023. Once more this is a reminder, how important the club scene is for our music and that we all should always support our local clubs. In the end they are the foundation for the music, for the resident DJs and for the crowd that enjoys a good time together. We would be nowhere without those kind of clubs run by passionate people for so many years. Long live Distillery Leipzig!

The 8th release on French label Sounds Benefit comes in a carefully curated package featuring Frankfurt’s Phil Evans, Def Engine, Rube Goldberg Series founder Bowyer and Tom Joyce, head of the label.

Opener ‘Bell Skit’ from Pager Records co-creator Phil Evans has an inevitable warm and infectious vibe - exactly what you are after - fluttering pads shimmer around the cosy body of the track, combined with shuffling drum work. Cut from a more direct cloth is Marco Bley aka Def Engine, with a slick and minimal edit of his track 'Escape Moot' released in 96 on Din A1 records.

On the B side, UK producer Bowyer delivers ‘Big Beat Manifesto’, a breezy summer track with a deeper energy than the three others, a young and talented producer to keep an eye on over the coming period. A fitting addition to the VA as Tom has just found himself releasing on Bowyer's, Rube Goldberg Series, an exchange of tracks between the two, each sitting comfortably on the others label. Closing out the record is Sounds Benefit founder, Tom Joyce, almost six minutes of bliss, dreamy synths melt into the snappy bass line, a classy production from the Paris based artist.
