In Hospital I met a fellow crippled man from Lithunia, who was quiet awake, but turned into a fierce vibrating uebermensch generating the utmost sonic snoring science the minute he fell asleep.
I was oblivious that such naturally raw yet spiritually refined level of snoring arts could be accomplished, absolutely impressing and inspiring.
He was to be my room mate.
I knew I was in for a weeks long tour de force of insomnia, so I invited Professor Tascam to keep us company and record some vivid samples of both us dueting the night away.

@mesak (Tatu Metsätähti) hails from Turku, the birthplace of modern Finnish electronic music, and now resides in Helsinki. He has enjoyed a two-decade-plus career in some of the most fascinating nooks and crannies of the Finnish scene, from clubs to galleries and in various groups as well as a solo act. 


As a solo artist, Mesak’s discography is as diverse as it is extensive, with releases on respected labels like Klakson, Orson Records, and Dum Records. Perhaps best known for being one half of the legendary electro-duo Mr Velcro Fastener, he, alongside Imatran Voima, defined the Finnish electro sound of the early 2000s. Collaborating with Norwegian singer Erlend Øye in another duo project Star You Star Me, Mesak ventured into house music, releasing tracks on labels like Force Tracks, Slip ’n’ Slide Blue, and Kickin Records. He was also a pivotal figure in the Scandinavian skweee movement, co-founding it with Perttu Häkkinen, among others. More recently, Mesak has been active with the worldbeat avant-pop project Ya Tosiba with the Azerbaijani singer Zuzu Zakaria.


Beyond studio work, Mesak is a dynamic live performer, touring extensively with his constantly evolving, hardware-based live sets. He is also the founder of the sub-underground labels Huge Bass and Harmönia Records, where he releases his own music and that of other artists.
