Noah Lyas, also known as Malii Yorks, is an Amsterdam based artist who is passionate about making refined ceramic products and composing deep atmospheric rhythms.
Malii grew up in a house where music was always on in the living room because of two passionate parents who shared a large record collection with their children. With a father as a musician, early contact with different instruments was made as well as performing arts.

Later in life, around the age of twenty, after many dances in night clubs with friends, Malii started to make his own music focussing on soft percussive rhythms and lush atmospheres, finding inspiration in different kinds of music and sometimes movies.

The first two releases, “Before the Horizon” and “Obsidian”, were the starting point of Noah Lyas, his pseudonym, and the beginning of his record label called “Profundo Collective”.

This month Daniel Filipovic takes us back with his mixtape to the Southern Lights Label night @ Arkaoda, Berlin where the set was recorded.


About: 
Daniel Filipovic is the founder and co-curator of Naarm (Melbourne) and Amsterdam label, Southern Lights. Southern Lights exists to nurture emerging and established artists that push the boundaries of dark and elemental music by providing a platform to release high quality, thoughtfully designed physical editions of recordings and digital works.
As a DJ, his sets are a reflection of how he curates the label: taking in all things esoteric and forward thinking; from ambient, drone and dub-infused sounds through to raw, hypnotic and experimental techno.

About the set:
The mix is an all-vinyl set recorded at the Southern Lights Label Night held at Arkaoda, Berlin in March 2024, supporting live sets from Mattia Onori and Katatonic Silentio.

This time Brandon Barker from Los Angeles, California brings you a diversity in ambient music. Beatless, slowbeat and rhytmical electronics in atmospheric soundscapes are all combined in this set. About:
Brandon Barker, is a techno producer/DJ from Los Angeles, California. Normally he's producing and mixing four on the floor techno and it is his  main focus as an artist. However, recently he's been very inspired to go away from the four on the floor pattern and explore the other areas of ambient and instrumental techno music. He had the idea for this mix after witnessing a solar eclipse in the city where he lives. This event inspired him to create a soundtrack for navigating space and time and his feeling that he has done perfectly in creating this mix. To capture this special moment.

In his own words he also descibes: " I am so honored to be working with Deep Electronics because my favorite ambient producer and DJ, Mint4000 has released for Deep electronics. MARRØN, my biggest inspiration for producing and mixing four on the floor style techno, has also released a mix for Deep Electronics. Be on the lookout for me in the future! "
