Following the albums "Lessons In Dub" (2012) and "Kontrollverlust" (2017) Leipzig based DJ and producer Marc DePulse now presents his 3rd artist album: Together Alone

The album title reflects the global sentiments surrounding the last two years while being confined indoors. It plays with the opposites of togetherness and aloneness. Being socially distanced during lockdown at home while all together stuck in the same situation individual aloneness was experienced as a collectively felt togetherness.

Therefore the idea behind Together Alone was engaging highly respected artists and friends from all over the planet for a collaborative project which Marc DePulse describes as "a colored box full of high-quality standards and with a lot of great stories inside".

Woven between the intro "Allein" (eng. alone) and the outro "Zusammen" (eng. together) the album captures stories of collectively felt emotions elicited by the pandemic.

The 13 tracks by 12 different artists highlight that despite all hardships we are never alone. This phenomena is represented by track 8 called ZIMWA, derived from the German sentence "Zusammen ist man weniger allein" (eng. Together you are less alone).

For the collaborative LP the artists got virtually together into the studio with Marc DePulse, exchanging stems, sharing parts, making video calls, chatting – simply doing things that were possible during the lockdown period.

Together Alone contains music from club to Easy Listening, from EBM to Breaks, from Pop to Tech – music to remember and heartfelt messages that will not be forgotten so fast.

The album's dizzying dreamscapes took shape during Melbourne's world-record long-term COVID lockdowns, as Erin lost herself completely in the process of music making, honing her unique sound on an album that reflects both the anxiety of the times and her own unshakeable sense of playfulness.

Inspired by auteurs from Proc Fiskal to Emma-Jean Thackray to Drexciya, Erin's productions are packed with intense detail but also a head-spinning sense of wonder. That tension between joy and anxiety informs the exhilarating hybrid sound of Threshold, a sound that she has explored in mixes for BBC 6 Music (Tom Ravenscroft), DUMMY & KEXP, and that has found her support from Gorilla vs Bear, COLORS, FBi Radio and DJs Nina Las Vegas, Andy Garvey and Air Max '97.

“Threshold refers to the feeling of being at boiling point - that intensity you feel when everything is just about to overwhelm you.

I made this music during a very intense time in my life, when Melbourne went into the first of its long-term lockdowns. I wasn’t working, so my life revolved entirely around music creation. Suddenly I had all of this time to create music, which was amazing - until it wasn’t.

Listening back, there is a tension present in all the songs. Every creation has such bursting energy of emotion – the songs became the vehicle for a lot of pent up feelings and things that I didn’t have words for and still don’t.

Threshold feels like the point at which all of those things demanded to be known, and came spilling over into my songs. It is the culmination of a lot of things, and best represents my music making style and intensely detailed creation process up until now.”

While Vir and I only met in person once (which was a hello/handshake at my OddBird theatre gig in New Delhi back in 2017) we've had a close musical connection as he'd released 2 killer forward-thinking EPs on Manjumasi. We've been chatting over the years sharing music and musings on life in general. At the start of the pandemic, I had a lot of musical drafts, but I wanted to push them to the next level in terms of edginess and sophistication, so I sent a few tunes his way to see if he was inspired. He bounced back with some outstanding ideas, and we tirelessly worked on molding these lumps of clay into a lump of wax.

Artistically and personally, it's been an absolute pleasure working with Vir and building our relationship - it took us two years to fully understand each other's approach + figuring out when to compromise and when to veto, so I see this EP as the first chapter in a story that's yet to be written.

I'm proud of our final product and floored by the absolute stormer remix from @christopherledger, another artist whose music is another dimension beyond the rest of the pack.

Kollektiv Turmstrasse releases new EP, YAP, on 1st July. The 3-track-release marks the first new material since 2019, presenting an ever-evolving sound that channels the legacy of the artist’s dancefloor savvy roots combined with a playful exploration of the lighter sides of house and techno.

Kolllektiv Turmstrasse steers into unexplored sonic territory and an introspective space with this new EP. Meticulous production skills combined with a soulful joy shine through with opening track, “YAP”. The track is a celebration of the pure and euphoric feelings human beings develop for one another (“You Are Perfect”), and demands the listener shimmies, shakes and forgets the outside world. The track starts on a methodical and hypnotic trajectory until vocals, synths, snares and hi-hats fly in from all angles to create a mosaic of grooving sound. Kollektiv Turmstrasse has a knack for blending multiple genres in one track, and the R&B vocals adding an unexpected garage flavour. With “YAP”, Kollektiv Turmstrasse creates a musical alchemy, occupying that dreamy space between evolution and nostalgia.

“I’m OK” plays with the limits and edges of house and minimal, combining 4:4 rhythms with scattered synths and sharp vocals. The track explores our tendency to create facades to cover our inner turmoil, reflected through builds and drops that add tension and texture, while giving a packed out dance floor no choice but to move.

'When reading the comments under Georg Levin’s songs and videos you immediately sense a certain longing for new output. There is always someone wishing for a comeback of the producer and songwriter. For good reason: after all, Georg didn’t release any music under his name for over 10 years. This is almost surprising as he has been an integral part of Berlin’s music scene since the beginning of the 2000s and had significant impact reaching far beyond the local musical landscape in the course of the decade.

Georg grew up near Hamburg, Germany, playing keys and saxophone in local bands. Despite his ambitions to become a songwriter/producer he didn’t feel ready at the time so he studied communications at Goldsmiths College in London, had different jobs at film production companies and at MTV. He finally becomes serious with music after meeting DJ Dixon who co-produces his first single 'When I’m With You' and the house classic '(I got) Somebody New' in 2002. Several remixes and collaborations with artists like Masters At Work, Jazzanova, Âme, Robert Owens, Felix Buxton from Basement Jaxx or Peter Kruder from Kruder & Dorfmeister follow as well as the LPs 'Can’t Hold Back' (2003 Sonar Kollektiv), 'Take It Personal' (2007 Four Music) under his and Dixon’s 'Wahoo' moniker and 'Everything Must Change' (2010 BBE).

It gets quiet around Georg Levin in the following years. Still playing the occasional gig or festival around Europe with his live band, he focusses on his music production company playdis.tv . In 2020 he finally releases the singles 'Echoes' and 'Fall into a dream' that quickly reach millions of streams and which give an indication to where he now continues with 'It Was Fun For A While'.

You can find Georg’s music filed under Electro, Soul, Pop or House at the record shop. His music has been described as 'Blue Eyed Soul', 'Future Soul' or even 'Yacht Rock'. But in the end of the day, his music is not about recreating the past .

When listening to 'It Was Fun For A While', you hear references to the early 80s - a time of upheaval where RnB, Disco and New Wave had a brief episode together - but instead of entering the time machine back to that era, both music and lyrics play with a rather abstract nostalgia. An attempt to capture a fleeting but intense feeling, a longing to an unlived past, a fading memory that made it to the here and now. It is, after all, a modern song.

With an infectious groove, elegantly crafted production plus Georg’s smooth vocals supported by Simonne Jones and Amely, „It Was Fun For A While“ is that kind of song that you want to hear in the car, at home and on the dance floor.

In 2020, Uone and Western released a ten-track manifesto of cinematographic desert house, ‘The Lone Wranglers’. The album – every instrumental element of which was recorded live – set a bold precedent for would-be soundtrackers of dust-ridden doofs. In ‘Desert Fire’ (the duo’s first release since their ‘Lone Wranglers’ album), they return with a stripped and earnest sound, distilling their vision-questing aesthetic to its essence.

At home among the most low-riding elements of ‘The Lone Wranglers’, ‘Desert Fire’ holds onto the apocalyptic intensity that characterises Uone and Western’s sound, with a violin lead, sweeping dub pads and vocal snippets uniting to form something filmic and visionary. Fittingly, the track samples Jarmusch’s 1995 psychedelic Western, ‘Dead Man’, an ambitious project that burst with prophetic literary allusions. And for a production that hints at the day of reckoning, there’s a surprising optimism to ‘Desert Fire’, which culminates on this parched line from the film’s protagonist: ‘The only man who’s got the guts to sell his soul for love and the power to change the world.’

On the flipside, Anjunadeep favourite @elifmusique delivers a remix that’s DJ-friendly but laconic, cutting the violin and pitched percussion to let the piano chords cavort alongside Elif’s bewildering synth-lead arabesques – some of the more complex programming you’re likely to hear on a festival floor this season. The cerebral Istanbul-born producer has rocked festivals from Amsterdam to Tulum, and this understated B-side combines her understanding of dancefloor dynamics and music theory.

Up next on A Tribe Called Kotori, please welcome Berlin's very own Madmotormiquel - all set and ready to storm the house after several transmissions on an array of quality outlets, including our good friends at Katermukke. His maiden incursion on the label, "Bombo", will not only be released in digital shape as per usual for the rest of our catalogue, but also in 12" vinyl format - with the special and endearingly peculiar trait that each cover is hand-designed by Chrisse Kunst and Madmotormiquel himself, making these collectible one-off pieces of art to adorn your shelves with. 

Opening cut and lead-single "Bombo" sets the wheels in motion at a slow and steady rate, progressively fleshing out its initially stripped-back funkiness with a polychromatic webwork of tribal rhythms, spectral synth murk and frizzling machine talk. The quirky "Kohiko" serves up a mischievous buffet of further syncopated moves and chirpy chimes pouring in cascades as a sturdy bass unfalteringly dictates the momentum. 

Shifting the scope to no-nonsense floor-busting objectives in its first stages, "Timezone Chaser" slowly evolves from sheer DJ functionality to jazzed-up abstraction through perfectly inlaid superimpositions of processed clarinets, dubbed-out drums and an overall hazy sound design to satisfyingly lose yourself in. EP closer "Rodrigues" opts for a more jagged approach, as it fuses skittish snares and hats at the fore with deep and vaporous pad tapestries in the background, resulting in the kind of heavily FX-layered, acid-leaning sleepwalker that'll keep the dancers' legs in motion even though their eyes seem shuttered.

Continuing a strong summer season, Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint welcomes Nhar back to the label for his debut EP. With a career that now stretches the better part of two decades, French artist Bernhard Siefert aka Nhar has showcased his deep and atmospheric sound via Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant, Azzur, Darkroom Dubs, Mobilee Records, Seven Villas and more. Also highly regarded as a live performer and DJ, Nhar has continued to travel the world, captivating crowds with his elusive brand of mesmerizing electronic music. Having made his Sound Avenue debut in June with a well received remix of ‘Turmeric Latte' by Madloch, Sudnode and Pedro Capelossi, Nhar now returns to the label for a two-track showcase entitled ‘Nocturne Océanique'. 

With a whimsical flair, it is the title selection ‘Nocturne Océanique' which sets the tone for the release. Warm, voluptuous basslines lay the foundation for panoramic arps and hazy harmonics to work their magic. Fluttery percussive arrangements maintain a buoyant cadence, while timely chord changes move from esoteric to emotive leading into the break. Masterfully constructed, the interlude delights with its hypnagogic synth-scapes and nostalgic phrasing, eventually giving way for multi-coloured clusters and delicate tonal themes to take us into a spirited finale. 

The spellbinding 'Vision De Rivages' further cements Nhar's elusive vision, as a fluid rhythmic core gets complemented with polychromatic arps and rolling bass tones. A joyous exchange of melody and texture where themes of connectedness and hope get translated by spectral vocal fragments, kaleidoscopic motifs and nostalgic chord changes. Designed for a broad range of dance floors and headphone afficionados alike, its feel-good nature concludes a character rich two-track showcase from one of France's long running musical mavericks.

Deep Stories is a collective of DJ/producers, writers and photographers with a passion for storytelling in all possible ways. In their universe, sounds, words and images form a complementary unity, so that the audience can absorb all these different sensations at the same time. With this unprecedented vision in mind, DJ’s The Doubljuh and Kork founded the Deep Stories podcast series in 2016, which was enthusiastically received by a rapidly growing community. By amalgamating different lifestyle areas (literature, photography, music) many people quickly became enthused by this innovative project and within a year the Deep stories Soundcloud channel reached the mark of 10K followers before smashing the 20K milestone the following year. Driven by the enormous positive feedback, the team has expanded and founded its own music blog. This allows the audience to stay informed about new releases, events and upcoming gigs, in addition to weekly charts and tips for the weekend planning for electronic music lovers. The latest addition is the new booking feature, by which the artists of the Deep Stories crew can be booked for deep house and techno parties.
