I have put together a mix of Guilty Pleasures over a 10 year period 2000-2010.
A love it or hate it mix of melodic house im sure you have danced & enjoyed some these tracks without admitting it over the years especially if you been out your nut in some club somewhere.

From D'Banj to Wizkid and Fuse ODG, AfroBeats is steadily overtaking the soundwaves. The newest name to cause a sonic stir is South-East London via Ghana's Mista Silva, whose mix this week is a certified speaker smasher. From Wiz Kid's On Top Your Matter to a special of Duke Dumont's I Got You, we might not have a pool per se, but this is a mix we'll be bumping all weekend - and beyond. "When I made this mix, I wanted to create a fresh, cool and positive vibe," says Silver. "A vibe that would make you want to go outand& pool party with your mates, dancing all day/night long. I blended the sounds of West Africa with that of Britain. I wanted to champion that good music is good music and once you feel the connection, you're on to a winner no matter where the sound originates from. As a means of showing how far the Afro Pop sound has come along, I added a bit of traditional highlife for those high times."

After a tough and hard-working week it felt good to let loose and get lost in the music that I just recently discovered and material that I re-discovered. Lets hope UMG doesn't shut this show down. I'm still working on making this show the best that it can possibly be despite me being on the road a lot lately. 

This week's highlight is really about @samgellaitry once again. The 17 year old producer is a special artist that is hard for us to stop talking about. I also went into a nice segment half way through the show where I wet through 2008-2009 golden era beats as well as some 2009-2012 classics.

It's so necessary to remember your roots and go back to where it all started with yourself. Oh yeah another thing, remember to always do what you love. Make time for it. We'll be back in Europe next month, stay tuned. -Joe Kay

So, I'm attending the Defected Croatia festival in August and received an email from the organizers stating that they were reserving some opening sets for attendees. We just needed to submit an hour-plus mix, appropriate for a daytime set. Squeeee! 

This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play overseas at the 20th anniversary party celebrating my favorite record label. Was it a coincidence that I had just purchased a digital DJ controller a few weeks prior that had me feeling really excited about getting back to DJing? It just felt like the stars were aligning and I couldn't think of a better opportunity to get back in the ring after a long hiatus. 

I crammed for several sleepless nights to get the mix together and tried not to panic when I couldn't figure out how to export it from the new digital setup, but Pioneer tech support came to the rescue and I got the mix submitted just in time!

Cut to a few days later when I received a congratulatory email from the Managing Director of Defected Records stating that I had made the first round cut and was short-listed for the opportunity out of over 300 mixes submitted. My heart was racing as I repeated in my head, "Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god..." and tears squeezed out of the corners of my eyes.

So who knows if I'll make the final cut, but I am beyond flattered to be in the running and I can think of no better validation than from the record label that I've held in the highest regard for 20 years. It was just the confidence boost I needed. 

With that: Atlanta, I'm coming for you.
