"A second full-length album by Murmansk-based AL-90 with the participation of Prochor Suprv and GNTH - a tree of nowaday music from Russia that has already received the name of the post-house or tape-house. It's like almost original house compositions of 90s, with bass organ and kinda impudent groove, vocal influxes and romance of semi-empty dancefloors, under the thundering single strobe and the up-to-that-date 4/4 beats or tracks of Russia's Shura, scratched from the story of years - jammed, dusty, faded like an old film or a Polaroid shot. And all this is permeated with Russia and something Russian, something that some use to joke at, some do rap about it, and someone just feels and loves all this weird, wild and living reality."

Hailing from the Russian city of Murmansk, AL-90 brings an all embracing dance sound perfectly in keeping with the Tape Throb Records ethos of distort, layer and rework. Littered with ghostly vocals and the blurred flush of multi layered beats, infectious bass moves the whole in rhythmic brilliance. The A sides, Cheremushki Groove and Fluid, will bring on dream of 90's VHS house with warm broken beats layered with lush vocal samples. The B side Cataract flies higher with a jungle storm waist deep in ambience and the EP closes with a distorted stomping rework of the title track by label founder The Cyclist.

Last year, pianist James Heather released his ‘Stories From Far Away on Piano’ album - a beautiful, fragile record that established him as one of the post-classical artists operating in the orbit as Max Richter or Nils Frahm. Now, Coldcut's label Ahead Of Our Time is putting out a compilation album of reworks of Heather's debut LP, drawing together contributions from the likes of Echo Collective, Aparde, Sarah Davachi and DJ Seinfeld. Eschewing the kind of crunchy vintage house he's made a name with, Seinfeld opts for a more ambient approach on his rework of 'MHope', which we're thrilled to be premiering now. Tune in now.
