LitaLotus - Indulgent (DDD Subscriber Exclusive)

DDD is on a hot streak when it comes to releasing Canada’s top talent, and Konka is back on the label with an EP so sinister it makes a black hole seem like a more welcome proposition: ‘The Darkness’. 

Throughout the EP’s incredible sequence of tunes, there’s a constant feel of dread, baron lands, and a complete absence of hope.

Set aside the eerie atmospheres, punishing subs and savage synths, as a former drummer himself, the element that stands out the most is the producer’s incredible use of percussion - setting up scatty grooves that have feel, musicality and off kilter leniency. 

This is represented no better than in the eponymous opening track and also the lead single ‘Ripchord’- with the former creating a unique wonky shuffle that glues the track together, and the second’s intricate snare patterns working perfectly in tandem with MC Donnie Danko’s insane bars.

DDD is ecstatic to welcome Tennessee’s finest sub flexor Chief Kaya to the roster, with his weighty, wobbly and woozy debut two tracker: Burning Bush / Implicit.

Bringing classic UK dubstep flavours to the table with fresh execution, these tracks carry so much heat they quite literally caused a bassbin to be engulfed in flames - much like the classic biblical tale that is the inspiration. 

Burning Bush begins proceedings with its infectious synths, reverb drenched snare and low end wubs, before Implicit finishes the job with top tier wonk and intricate hihat patterns.

2025 seems to be the year of Canada when it comes to the sickest DDD releases - and with Snipa, Abstrakt Sonance has cooked up a dubstep heater so deadly - it’ll kill with precision from up to 140 miles away. 

Utilising his signature blend of organic percussion, scattered chops and savage sub frequencies - this one doesn’t just do sound system damage, it’ll leave any rig powerless, never to be used again. 

RIP to Abstrakt’s next target. It won’t be the last - certainly not this year…
