Sub wielding sorcerers and global bossmen Truth are back on DDD with the otherworldly mini-EP, Woden, one that is as powerful and devastating as it is mystical and ethereal. Set for release the day of DDD’s groundbreaking takeover at Denver’s Mission Ballroom - across the three tracks, New Zealand’s bass wizards take you on a mythical journey from the sublime to the ridiculous - pushing the fabric of dubstep’s possibilities, before reality sets back in with a bang.  Working with long-time collaborator, Lelijveld, EP opener Empty is a sublime piece of melancholic beauty that doesn’t hold back when the drops flex - with stunning vocal refrains making way for savage synth lines across triplet percussive patterns. Next comes the eponymous Woden, the powerful norse god and ‘leader of the possessed’. Hellbent on soundsystem destruction, the heavy wubs return with devastating effect to fire off at any being in range.  EP closer Narwhal is as cold as the toothed whale’s arctic ocean habitat - as delayed snares fire off like the disintegrating ice it passes as it migrates to warmer climes, with trippy arpeggios accompanying the threatening low frequencies.  Woden’s Day has a new date. 13th September.

Two of the hottest talents in New Zealand’s bass scene combine in devastating fashion on 233, a tune so moody it makes Azealia Banks’ 212 sound more like Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5.


Dark cinematic soundscapes are interrupted by the sub-driven force of Paige Julia’s ‘beats so sick, they make you iller than getting locked up in an ice cold chiller’ as fire MC Tali’s flow and lyricism takes centre stage. 


The dynamite vocalist is someone DDD founders Truth have long admired, with the duo promoting her when they used to throw drum & bass shows way back in 2005 when she was signed to Roni Size’s Full Cycle Records in Bristol, UK. 


Welcoming Tali to the label for the first time is a full cycle moment itself, and the results are seismic as the MC sprays molten lava ‘got no time for patriarchy, so don’t fuck with me and my privacy’ - with Paige Julia’s ice cold production the perfect bedrock. 

Snakes better watch their throats, Paige Julia and Tali ain’t in the mood to play nice.

As as lot of you are aware, George Floyd was murdered by Minneapolis Police on memorial day, which has resulted in protesting all across the world. In an effort to support these peaceful protests and our local community we will be donating all funds from this release to Pimento Jamaican Kitchen, located in south Minneapolis. Pimento has been gathering and distributing relief supplies to families in need during the Covid-19 epidemic, and also supporting peaceful protests with materials to stay safe during protesting.
