q. pls introduce yourself

>I’m Mim from MitamineLab, a contemporary sound archive and curatorial project from Mexico City, also a radio show. I’m an art historian/cultural manager and I currently have two jobs, as a studio manager and as a project manager.

q. is there a story behind the mix? how did it come together?

>I just tried to evoque the sensation of living at Mexico city, pretty eclectic and unpredictable. I truly believe that Mexico City is a land of dream where emotions are always running high.

q. in your opinion, what would be the ideal circumstances to enjoy your mix?

>You can enjoy it wherever and whenever you want, maybe in the morning while drinking a good coffee, or even in a sunny afternoon with the company of a good shot of mezcal.

q. describe a favourite object in your living room...

>Is not an object per se, but I love that my living room has a view to the garden.

q. are you working on any projects right now (music or not music)?

>Yeah, I’m working in some music and my first EP ever. Hope to have something ready soon :)

Mim is a professional in art and independent consultant dedicated to the development of alliances, strategic planning, communication and cultural management for a diversity of artistic projects. She has been developing the music & art project Mitamine Lab for almost 10 years —without expectations or pretension. She’s also a selector and vegan activist: „I love diversity and I really love different kinds of music and genres. I'm trying to educate myself by switching my mental thoughts from negative to positive. I’ve been pretty disconnected from the ‘Mexican scene’ but I still trust in my excellent taste and ears.“ So let‘s dive deep into the story told by Mim in this eclectic mix.

...This mix became something of a showcase of (& retrospect) for me of multiple releases on modern underground DnB labels, spanning the last three years. 
There is also the inclusion of some hidden "lost" dubs and forthcoming material...

His music described by Electronic Sound Magazine as : 
"Cerebral d’n’b with paranormal activity, a sound that looms in a murky late-night interzone, where minimalist drum ’n’ bass melds with darkly ambient experimentalism".
"The name Paracusia refers to hallucinations that involve perceiving sounds without auditory stimulus. 
It’s a concept that fits perfectly, especially in relation to that woozy post-club small hours vibe where this work feels best suited".

This summer, Monochrome is offering each month to one or several artists to discover their influences and inspirations through a forty-five minute to two hour recording. These three recordings will focus on percussive rhythms between Ambient, Deep Techno and Drum & Bass.

Artist biography :
Yin Yang Audio is the essence of experimentation. Coming from various genres, I attempt to carve out a sound with no genre restrictions. the project began to take shape with the release 'From the void' on Onset Audio where the idea was to break sonic barriers- grab themes from techno, deep dnb, indusrial, ambient and the experimental melt it into a crucible and see what kinds of awesome shapes come about.

DYL, through ECHO, is going to travel between musical genres and collect music that pushes forward new sonic possibilities.

Dschen
Munich based DJ, Composer, Modular Synthesist, Music Lover.
After an initial interest in Hip-Hop/Turntablism culture as a teenager, Dschen soon became attracted by the early Atmospheric & Liquid Drum'n'Bass sound, which led to his first gigs and experiences as a club DJ. This was until around 2007. More than 15 years later the focus of his DJ sets today lies mainly on hypnotic, deep or driving Techno and organic Halftime grooves, sometimes merging both styles in the same set through proper track selection and mixing techniques. Current DJ sets are regularly published in his own "Temporary Escape Podcast“ on SoundCloud and YouTube.

In addition to his activity as a DJ, Dschen has delved deep into the world of modular synthesizers in recent years, following a long phase of experimenting with different production and composition methods. Now his tracks are created as intuitively as possible, often by recording live jams in the studio to capture a special sound aesthetic and authenticity.
His debut album “One Armed Statue“ came out in early 2023 on the Mexican label “Secuencias Temporales“ and embodies this recent artistic development. Soon his first self released album “Undertow“ will come out on Bandcamp, presenting some intimate improvisations solely done on a Verbos modular system. Stay tuned!

ASIP - Reflection on 2023

Ending the year with an awesome mix by @FlxK1, a Berlin-based DJ, producer, and label honcho. His perspective has been a big inspiration in the music scene since the late '90s, from killer work on various labels to unforgettable performances.

This mix is a shout-out to 25 years of Hidden Hawaii and 10 years of Nullpunkt Recordings. Some of it you could hear at our London party in August 2023. Big thanks to Felix for this mix, and here's to many more awesome releases in the future.
