UK-based DJ/producer Wheats returns to Jamie Jones’ Hottrax this April with ‘Another Planet EP’, a set of three off-kilter house cuts. 

Following releases on Kaluki, Circus, and Solid Grooves and picking up support from Hot Since 82, Pete Tong, Yousef and more, Wheats follows 2020’s ‘In Your Head’ EP with another highly anticipated package of bumpy house tracks for Jamie Jones’ Hottrax imprint. 

Lead track ‘Humanic’ features Medusa’s manipulated vocals around a bed of glitchy and visceral clicks and pops, whizzing around grooving drum patterns and swung basslines. ‘Drive’, also featuring Medusa’s vocals, brings scratchy percussion and subtle rave stabs over gliding subs for an upbeat slice of dancefloor gold.

‘Insomniac’ brings a dose of the after-hours to the EP, making use of hypnotic drum patterns and energetic breakdowns, with the stuttering low end bringing the release to a trippy conclusion, marking a standout EP from Wheats on the consistently reliable Hottrax.

Wheats ‘Another Planet EP’ lands on Hottrax 23rd April.

Riaz Dhanani is yet another artist to spawn from London's already extensive arsenal of house and techno DJs. Riaz has been producing just short of five years, with some of his best work arguably coming in the last 12 months. Equipped with this growing stature and maturity for house music production, we welcome Riaz to VIVa LIMITED with this tech-house influenced 3-piece EP in Hot Fuse. 

Following early releases on Audio Rehab, Riaz truly found his feet following his remix of Nu Sky and Eskuche's 'Speeches' - again released on Audio Rehab. This propelled the talented British DJ onto producing with Harry Ley and DJ S.K.T, while touring some of the world's best clubs from Berlin to Ibiza.

More recently, Riaz has remixed Italobros's - 'Jorpe' released on Criminal Hype - and individually produced records on Incorrect, ElRow Music, Killer Vibe Records and Younan Music. With this greater record label repertoire, the Londoner has heralded support from the likes of Groove Armada, Roger Sanchez and Pete Tong. Expect big things to come.

We are back with another distinctively signature percussion-led release to add to our Libero catalogue. This time it comes from the triple threat of Alessio Bianchi and Tomi&Kesh with two fresh cuts, along with slamming remix of the b-side from Music On favourite Antonio Pica to complete the three-track arsenal. 

‘Roll It Up’ gets things off to a flying start with perpetual rhythm. Tonal toms, shuffled hats and offbeat shots are joined up with a brightly coloured sub bass melody and perfectly balanced drums. Thrown on top is a subtly measured level of atmospherics and vocal presence, making it a well-rounded groove tool and definite vibe builder.

‘Wake & Bake’ carries on the great work of its predecessor with relative ease, using melodic percussive factors to supplement a pleasantly over-sufficient, driving, low bassline. Intricately layered sampling fills out the main body of the track and blends perfectly into the main drum programming, creating hypnotic rolling energy that will keep you moving effortlessly.

Libero favourite, Antonio Pica, seals the deal with an assertively powerful remix of ‘Wake & Bake’. Built around a jacking beat, consisting of hammering kicks, pulsating low bass and a crispy top line; it definitely commands a certain level of attention. Taking influence from memories of the Music On terrace and tracks that inspire a roar from a crowd, he turns it all the way up to 11 with this peak time driver.
