Jamie Jones recruits Max Dean for ‘Start Screamin’ on Hottrax this July. 

Previously appearing on Resonance, Deeperfect, South Records, and more, Max Dean’s productions receive vast amounts of support from the likes of Michael Bibi and Jamie Jones. Now readying his first release for Jones’ Hottrax imprint, the UK-based DJ/producer drops two groove-laden tracks, marking some of his strongest productions to date. 

Leading the release, the title track ‘Start Scream’ brings swung drums, bouncy basslines, and memorable vocal licks together for an undeniable groover. ‘Yes Baby’ follows suit, bringing another welcome house cut, peppered with spoken word and eerie synth hits over funky low end and skippy percussion.

Toby Simpson readies his debut release for Jamie Jones’ Hottrax with the three-track ‘Fulfilled Fantasy EP’.

Owner and resident at the Liverpool-based party Express, Toby Simpson’s music has picked up support from the likes of Jamie Jones, The Martinez Brothers, and Marco Carola, even before dropping an official release. Now readying his first EP for Jones’ revered Hottrax imprint, the DJ/producer from Merseyside brings three bumping tracks. 

Across the release, Simpson draws for heavy low-end, skipping drums, and vocal chops for three club-ready tracks. From the trippy FX on ‘Feedback’, the rumbling basslines of ‘SuBBazz’, through to the mammoth samples on ‘Sugar’, the EP is a considered package sure to set dancefloors on fire all summer and beyond.

Ben Sterling and Bodeler combine as both make their Solid Grooves debut for 'Uno Dos Tres'.

With their Ibiza residency at DC10 Ibiza proving to be one of the stand-out series of the summer, it's safe to say Solid Grooves are making 2022 a year to remember as they also celebrate 10 years with a wealth of huge shows across the globe. Showing no signs of slowing when it comes to dropping impactful records across both labels, late-September welcomes the arrival of a big debut collaboration between UK talent Ben Sterling and Argentinian Bodeler as the pair combine for their first appearance on Solid Grooves with 'Uno Dos Tres'.

Fusing rolling organic percussion with playful vocal samples, snaking basslines and crisp hi-hats, 'Uno Dos Tres' delivers an impactful stripped back cut from the duo as they unveil a production perfect for the main room and the afters.

Rising star SOSA collaborates with established producer and DJ duo Prok | Fitch. Together, they weave their distinct sound of groove-based tech house, releasing a club-driven creation suitable for transient and peak-time moments on the dancefloor. 

They explain the functional aspect of the EP. “We’ve wanted to do something together for a while through a mutual love for one another’s music. The tracks came together effortlessly; we merged our production styles, bounced the projects back and forth and ended up doing three tracks covering the full scope of our DJ sets and us as producers,” they say. “It was important to have a lead track for the EP, something that a good cross-section of DJs could get behind and then some timeless DJ tools for groovier floors, late night/early morning moments and the big rooms! We’re buzzing with how they turned out and how they’ve been working on the dancefloor.” The title tune opens with a minimal vibe before a sultry vocal slips into the soundscape, evoking a sunrise-at-the-rave mood. Stripped-back percussion allows the lyrics to breathe, while a robust kickdrum conveys a clubby feel. Like the title suggests, Sweat is a pacier tune that ripples with a low-slung bassline and sizzling vocals with a touch of reverb—the perfect late-night groover. Final tune Footsteps In The Dark unfurls with a stabby synthline and snappy percussion, offering a peak-time production primed for a club soundsystem.

Solid Grooves welcomes back Romanian DJ/producer JUST2 as he returns with 'Multicore'.

Whether he's delivering the goods solo or alongside regular collaborator and close friend Luca M, it's now pretty clear that DJ/producer JUST2 and Solid Grooves' sister imprint Solid Grooves Raw may be a match made in heaven for those looking for stripped-back, no-nonsense cuts. Stepping out on the label for the first time this year, mid-March sees the Romanian talent return with fresh material for 2023 as he serves up the slinking, crisp grooves of new single, 'Multicore'.

In typical style and signature form, 'Multicore' is another production built for dark, intimate spaces with heavy lowend sound systems as punchy kicks and warping bassline patterns work beneath evolving vocals for a track set to make dancefloors move.
