The second single by The Jade from their forthcoming debut album Love Harder (Out June 20th).

“Change!” is a soulful spark, a quiet explosion, where street soul meets Brit-funk, all wrapped in a subtle gospel glow. Angela Gooden doesn’t just sing about change, she gives it a voice and feeling, borne aloft by celestial choirs and a shimmering disco groove. It’s a reminder that change isn’t just inevitable: it’s a universal constant and as the rate of change accelerates, some things never change.


Having carved out a place in the contemporary club scene with releases on Glitterbox/Defected, Boogie Angst & Lovemonk Records amongst others, Madrid’s Casbah 73 recently shed his skin and is now ready to introduce The Jade, a live ensemble that prioritises emotion, feeling and the art of the song.

Led by Oli Stewart (Casbah 73), the project brings together a remarkable group of players. At its core, The Jade is about people: musicians in dialogue, shaping rhythms and melody, singing songs from the heart. It's that shared pulse based on a timeless musical vocabulary. The Jade's sound is post-pout and grid-free. It's raw soul, free from modern dancefloor tyranny. Intimate disco, dead selfie, jazz dance freedom and Iberican funk all rolled into one, rooted in emotion and shot through with a dose of funky afro-latin jazz rhythms. Genres that blend and bleed into each other but sharing a common thread, one stupidly simple idea: Songs. The expressive power of live instrumentation. Music.

Comin' atcha from behind the Tortilla Curtain (Madrid!), and spearheading the resistance you will find Chavi Ontoria on keys and David Salvador on bass, forming the rhythmic foundation. They’re joined by the rousing horns of Josué García and Dani Herrera and the vibrant voices of Deborah Ayo and Nia Martin. All the way from Montevideo, guitarist Nico Ibarburu contributes beautiful textures, while top notch artists such as Josh Hoyer, Angela Gooden, Ale Gutiérrez, Malcolm Strachan and others broaden and enrich the project’s emotional and musical range.

The Jade is a celebration of the human touch. It's a whole lotta love!

Poolside (Los Angeles) exclusive compilation remix 
Poolside is the recording project of producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jeffrey Paradise. The Poolside project began in a converted Los Angeles backyard pool house in early 2011 when Paradise (back then with his partner Filip/Turbotito) set out on a low-stakes journey to produce appropriately chill music for summer soirées. The pair envisioned a light but danceable kind of music with sunny vibes and liquid rhythms that they dubbed "Daytime disco". Since then, Poolside has released five acclaimed albums – “Pacific Standard Time” (2012), “Heat“ (2017), “Low Season” (2020), “High Season” (2021), and “Blame It All On Love” (2023). Poolside are one of our longest companions in the small (but perfectly formed) universe of slow sunset disco. “Ventura Highway Blues” was our favorite track from his last album, it just needed a slightly more beat-focused version and who better to take remix action than Mexico’s Monsieur Van Pratt. This is the first track released by Poolside since he lost everything in the L.A. wildfires – so a heartfelt kudos to him for rediscovering the joy and sharing it with us.

Not a lot of introduction needed here. London based soul brothers Andy Platt “The Young Gun” and Shawn Lee “The Silver Fox” met back in 2005, but busy men that they are, it took until 2018 for their now legendary debut album to arrive. Never had the modern Neo Westcoast sounded warmer, fresher and more sophisticated – a truly timeless retro-futurist debut. Their contribution here is very special, a collaboration with two other legends of the past, Robbie Nevil and Steve Lindsey. As Shawn explains: “In January 2024, Andy and I went to L.A. to do some writing before we embarked on a US tour with Young Gun Silver Fox. We holed up in the Santa Monica beach front studio of L.A. music veteran Steve Lindsey. We were also joined there by Robbie Nevil of “C’est La Vie” fame. A normal YGSF Monday! It quickly became quite clear that our very first effort ‘Curious’ was sounding very YGSF!” Here at TSTD we have long held a hope of getting these cats on board, so we couldn’t be happier to finally have this stunning Westcoast soul classic exclusive.
