Deep Field Audio Podcast Vol.3 - Mixed by Double Helix

With DJ support from Maztek, Jade and Bowsar, Polish producer Voima presents his first single on Austrian drum & bass label Deep Field Audio, who with their fifth release continue to make a name for themselves in the field of forward-thinking bass music.

 The virtual A-side Epiprocta commences with some uplifting soundscapes before luscious drums and gnarly bass take over for the proper rolling main part. Total sub engulfment, floor bombardment, break madness, you name it. The flip Apoplexy starts with a bitter-sweet mixture of tension and harmony as subtle chimes engage in melancholic melodies and an overall sombre atmosphere dwells underneath. Needless to say that this is just the dramatic foreplay to the no nonsense neurofunk that is about to follow on the other half of this massive debut.

Supported by Jade, HYQXYZ, Bowsar and Double Helix, Alex Seva presents his first single on Deep Field Audio. The tunes issued here are two prime examples of what the young producer holds dear: intricate yet grooving percussions and deep gnarly basses are the hallmark of Era, a first class roller that will render any floor stark raving mad in dance and desire. The flipside Twisted takes the rhythmic approach even further, dramatically entwining the drums in a dynamic pas de deux with the steadily undulating low ends of this gradually evolving monstrosity.

 The virtual A side features the Austrian producer’s newest original output, the massive roller Cue. ‘Don’t you worry’ is the tune’s vocal backbone, and for every bass music afficionado there’s really nothing to fear in this labyrinth of synth, breaks and groove that leaves no stone unturned and no floor unspoiled. On the flip we find Double Helix’ remix of the mighty Thing’s Nightfall that turns the bass-laden laidback original into a psychedelic pressure chamber.
