Half-tempo and unusual soundscapes are the hallmarks of Techno producer, live act and DJ Liza Aikin. In her Berlin studio, she is dedicated to tailor made music production, always looking to recreate the sound she was missing in the dance floor, with her favorite tools: field recordings and modular synthesisers. Her works have been released on labels such as Mord Records, Gegen Records, Voxnox, Nachstrom Schalplatten, Void+1 to name a few.

𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: How was your first DJ gig?
𝙇𝙄𝙕𝘼 𝘼𝙄𝙆𝙄𝙉: I was in a random bar, I had many CDs so I just used them…it was one of those drunk ideas that you didn’t think much about, and actually worked out.

𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: What came first - djing or producing?
𝙇𝙄𝙕𝘼 𝘼𝙄𝙆𝙄𝙉: Djing, I didn’t believe in myself enough at the beginning to actually start producing, but I knew immediately I wanted to make my own music.

𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: Any unusual stories from your DJ life that you can share?
𝙇𝙄𝙕𝘼 𝘼𝙄𝙆𝙄𝙉: I recently went to play in Mongolia, and rode a horse and a Camel for the first time before my show, with the promoter and another DJ. It was pretty cool before the show experience.

𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: What is the most important a club or organizer should pay attention to?
𝙇𝙄𝙕𝘼 𝘼𝙄𝙆𝙄𝙉: They should both foster their community make it grow, make people feel they are part of something, care for them by given them a nice environment with good music. Ultimately we both need each other.

𝙑𝙎𝙇𝙆: Any goals for the next time?
𝙇𝙄𝙕𝘼 𝘼𝙄𝙆𝙄𝙉: Going to play in Ukraine again.
