It features Ominous and Ruckus on production and Texas’ finest GEAR on the bars urging the listener to feel their authentic selves and empowered. This is the first time the trio has come together for a project. GEAR and Ruckus have collaborated on several projects already.

About GEAR

Bursting out of Dallas, Texas, GEAR is a multi-talented artist who creates rap inspired by a smorgasbord of electronic genres. Throughout his younger years, GEAR discovered a large realm of styles in deep corners of the internet. They included grime, industrial, dubstep, drum & bass, and more. His sound is the pounding product of these influences. In addition to what he gained through an immersion in Southern rap, he also draws inspiration from countries across the globe, making for an incredibly left-field and unprecedented combination.

About Ruckus

Breaking an eight-year hiatus, Adrian Purcell emerged from a quiet and humble life of changing nappies and falling asleep during the kid’s nap times to create a new persona. Ruckus was born out of a small studio clumsily thrown together in the back utility room of his family home.

After experimenting with different styles, he found his sound within the deeper darker corners of the drum and bass spectrum. Using this as his base, he carefully blended it with haunting almost beautiful tones and musical elements, balanced delicately with powerful snappy and rolling drums.

With a debut release alongside the mighty MC Gear on the fresh and fast rising imprint Off-licence Records, Ruckus has continued to work with fantastic independent labels such as Sub-division recordings, gaining recognition and support from scene heavyweights including: Bladerunner, Kenny Ken, Ray Keith, Monrroe and Saxxon. The latest link up consisting of two projects with UK scene legend, PAV4N’s imprint 4NC¥, is continuing to develop and refine his style bringing back reminiscent influences of hip hop and dubstep elements to his sound design.

ABOUT OMINOUS

In 2007, on a brisk November evening in the heart of Edinburgh; a young Liam Gartland braved the frigid, harsh Scottish air to join a group of friends at an exciting new night at Potter’s Row, blissfully unaware that his life was about to change. Entering the club, the sudden weight of a 40 Hz wall of sound expelled from the excessively large rig at 174 beats per minute consumed Liam, resulting in a complete sonic revelation.

After some time locked away, he emerged from his sonic cocoon a new man and armed to the teeth with an arsenal of heavy weight rolling hitters, with dark atmospheric sound design, what better name for the new and improved LG than OMINOUS. He immediately landed on fantastic imprints such as Off-licence records and Sub-division recordings, gaining support and admiration from the scene's finest. Now forthcoming on the one and only 4ncy headed by the legend Pavan, the future is looking very bright in the most Ominous way.

About Chisel

Zac Porter aka Chisel is an emerging Drum & Bass DJ and producer from Christchurch, New Zealand. Drawing on a variety of influences including Burial, The Prodigy and Wuzang Clan, Chisel is home in the 170+ spectrum and his music traverses from soulful liquid to deep minimal and jungle. Carving out his own sound, 2021 saw the release of his first solo productions with SBK Recordings with many more releases in the works. He has gone on to perform at multiple festivals and club nights both individually, and as part of the duo Formatics, where he continues to host a weekly show on RDU 98.5 FM

Kicking off 2021 with a bang, we proudly introduce Italian/ UK D&B aficionados Invadhertz! Their upcoming track “Hypnotize” sees them breaking cover from their style of deep techy rollers to present this selection of bass heavy, glitchy Detroit inspired beats. This is the first time ever the duo has experimented with Half Time/Beats music and until this track, they were mostly making drum and bass tunes. 

“We actually started it like 2 years ago and then never finished it, but we reopened the project recently and decided that it was a cool idea and then it deserved to be released.”__ Invadhertz

Hypnotize is the lead single from the EP and features Texas based rapper GEAR featuring styles reminiscent of Foreign Beggars & Noisia’s ‘I Am Legion’ project. Deep beats, saturated synths, eerie pads melodies on rumbling bass lines do exactly what it says on the tin and transport the listener to higher planes as soon as the first beat kicks in. Their main idea came from an atmospheric sample and the bassline that was then garnished with some hip hop drum samples on top!

Invadhertz consists of Francesco Malvaso and Alessandro D’addario Fernandez, both producer-djs originally from Rome but residing in London since 2016.  Their sound, crafted originally in drum and bass, is focused on deep and soulful vibes, characterised by rolling drums, signature sound designs and euphoric atmospheres.

Storming into 2021 with the final instalment of his widely acclaimed ‘Bubblers’ EP series, Whiney’s last four-tracker offloads serious amounts of heat closing the three-part series with a bang. With DJs from all corners of the scene supporting the Bubblers EPs, from Chase & Status to DJ Marky, Keeno to AC13, ‘Bubblers: Part Three’ raises the bar once more as Whiney stamps his sonic identity as a top player within drum & bass. This might be his last Bubblers EP but it’s definitely not the least.

Teaming up with North London-based MC Subten, drum & bass meets grime on ‘Headlines’. The infusion of styles sees two of the UK’s most loved underground genres collide as Subten lays down his impeccable flow over Whiney’s production mastery which brings the sounds of 140 into 174 territory.

‘Freedom Dub’ draws for ambient soundscapes and enchanting vocal samples as it rolls into a deep drum & bass cut fuelled by a signature bubbling bassline and crunch-packed breaks. Smooth amens and gliding mid-ranges keep the track moving as Whiney continues to make his mark on the scene.

Flipping over to side B, dreamlike vocal melodies and luscious chord swells induce a hypnotic state on ‘Mirage’. A nod to Whiney’s old-school jungle influence, raw and rugged breakbeats and addictive 808 throbs pay homage to the classic sounds of the 90s.

‘Yesterday’ incorporates mesmerising synth arpeggios which float above chugging drums, saturated with elements of techno inspiration. Hissing basslines and skippy percussions transform the track into a no holds barred weighty stepper.

With ‘Bubblers: Part Three’ marking the last edition of his trailblazing EP series, this is only the beginning of Whiney’s new chapter. Renowned for creating futuristic and forward-thinking productions, and an impressive back catalogue including two albums ‘Talisman’ and ‘Waystone’ under his belt, it’s no surprise that Whiney’s music receives consistent support from leading radio tastemakers including Rene LaVice, Laurent Garnier and DJ Target. Proving himself to possess an arsenal of highly sought after unreleased tracks often showcased in his Bubblers Mixtape series, if one thing's for certain it’s that the only way is up for Whiney.
