Nikko.Z's Dopamine White welcomes Matias Rojas aka M.Rojas to the label for his debut EP. Based in Buenos Aires, the Argentinean artist first made his name as a DJ, sharing the booth with some of his country's greats, such as Soundexile, Mariano Mellino, Kevin Di Serna, Simon Vuaranbom, Mike Griego, Facundo Mohr, Marcelo Vasami and Juan Deminicis. 2019 then saw Matias begin to produce, eventually landing releases on Balkan Connection and Clinique Recordings. Now presenting his first release of 2021, M.Rojas debuts on Dopamine White with ‘Ruderalis'. 

Beginning with the title selection Matias explores traditional progressive house sensibilities. Tough yet warm, a well contoured groove sets the piece in motion as striking percussion adds swing to the framework. Dynamic effects and arpeggiated fragments converge for heartfelt moments as the first act unfolds, before haunting chord changes transfer energy into the main break. Tastefully tranquil, the centerpiece heightens emotion, as a wave of noise sparks the arps and groove to drop for a thunderous finale. 

The companion piece ‘Girl Scout Cookies' follows with an equally enticing storyboard. Once again backed by a buoyant foundation, it's a maze of cosmic effects and heartfelt melodies which slowly saturate your senses. Haunting overlays sweep across the framework, adding emotion with each successive loop, while spine tingling modulation highlights a glowing break, before eventually sparking a powerful finale. It rounds out a stunning two track offering from M.Rojas, who makes an excellent Dopamine White debut.

Girl Scout Cookies [Dopamine White]

Continuing their prolific ways, Nikko.Z's Dopamine White welcomes Augusto Dassano to the label for his debut EP. Based in Cordoba, the Argentinean artist is in the early stages of his electronic music journey. A contribution to Balkan United's ‘Novus' Vol. 7 Collection marked Augusto's first ever release in November of last year. Now stepping up for his first official artist EP, the Argentine debuts on Dopamine White with ‘Moon Caress'.

Beginning with the title track Augusto crafts a powerful blend of melody and groove. Dynamic beats and a muscular low-end power the foundation while fluttery arps, buoyant percussion and sweeping effects provide colour and texture leading into the break. Tastefully tranquil, the centrepiece melts down to a collage of indistinct voices and sizzling effects, before a striking roll sparks a powerful drop and driving finale.

The companion piece ‘Solar Wind' continues the dark, groovy ethos of the release in fine style. Setting a dramatic tone from the outset, it's full, romping foundation creates a massive presence for clattering percussion and buzzing lines to flow freely into the main break. Expansive at over a minute in length, the centrepiece delights with it's rising tension and icy melodic drawl, perfectly setting up a thunderous final movement. It rounds out two excellent productions from Augusto Dassano, a fast-rising talent who looks to be one of 2021's top progressive house newcomers.

Nikko.Z's Dopamine White welcomes Rockka to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Sri Lanka, Rockka aka Lakith Adikaram has been releasing his own unique style of progressive music for the better part of two years. Appearances on Droid9 Limited, Emotional Content Recordings and Superordinate Music sit as discography highlights. Now following a contribution to Stripped Digital's 'Extended Play' series to begin the year, the Nugegoda resident steps up to Dopamine White for his first EP 'Night Rockets'. 

Beginning with the title selection, Rockka flexes the pure progressive side of his studio repertoire. Rolling grooves, fluid harmonics and wispy atmospheres surround the percussive framework, as gentle chord stabs add momentum to the storyboard. An array of stellar effects keeps your senses heightened as its hypnotic sensibility grows, before an emotive break resets the mood for a thumping finale.

The second selection 'Life In A Capsule' is not only nicely titled but continues the ethos of the EP perfectly. Its warm, punchy beats and buoyant groove command a big presence at the outset, before tranquil themes and radiant synths quickly take you into melodic territory. Subtle modulation and emerging atmospheres meld perfectly during an expansive break, adding just enough tension to offset the emotive musicality, before the pulsating groove drops for a charged final movement. 

'Olion' rounds the release out and finds Rockka crafting a percussive groover. Built around a chugging foundation, it's galloping cadence eventually grabs a hold of you. Sleek and meditative, it blends a nostalgic style groove with timeless top line elements. The main break furthers intrigue through smooth chord changes and pixie-like fragments, which not only provide a great emotional moment but also a smooth transition into a feel-good final act. A perfect way to cap off three fresh and inspired cuts from Rockka, who makes an excellent Dopamine White debut here. Highly recommended.
