This mix is more of a visit to my Doppelganger moniker, with straight techno played across 3 channels. Nothing pre-selected, and no post editing of any kind - just straight techno and what felt right in the moment.

Coming out of the dark and into the light, is the next release from the archive. DJ Schofield, one of the DGS extended family, started off as a regular attendee to our Sundaze events, but soon became a close part of the family. With an interest in Drum and Bass, eager and willing, he soon began learning how to mix. He quickly proved that he was a natural, as mixing was easy and rocking the dancefloor inherent to the humble selecta. Till this day he remains one of our favorite DnB DJs. Enjoy!

Coming out of the vault this week is a DJ whose energy was never contained, except through his infectious smile. Christopher Cadence aka Cadence hailed from Utah, but left a lasting imprint on the budding Dubstep scene in the early days of Humboldt electronic music. A force to be reckoned with behind the decks, Cadence's ability to ensnare the dancefloor was almost magic. Continue to rest easy in the music my bruvnah. Big ups.

Another mix fresh from the Deep Groove Society archives is from the Legend, Simply Jeff. This was Jeff's first time playing in Humboldt and he brought the house down. Much respect to our brother in heaven, Harry Avers, who was our link to Jeff, this booking was one a special one indeed as the DGS crew looked up to Jeff as an OG in the game. Since then, this mix has cooking up steam in the vault. Enjoy.

From the Deep Groove Society archive, we have a banging 2-hour set from one of our favorite guests, Iheanyi Uzoye aka Blackliquid. Blackliquid has played in Humboldt for several years and is one of the most versatile DJ / Producers we have enjoyed bringing up to the redwoods. This set is special, as Blackliquid played on 3-decks the entire time. He made the Sacred Palace walls sweat more than the Bikram Yoga classes taught there during the week. DJW aka Derek Watts is one of the OG's of Deep Groove Society. His love for Jackin House and his ability to mix and cut over his beats stems from his early days raving, finding inspiration in DJs like Bad Boy Bill, Richard Humpty Vision, and other turntablists that were not afraid to try something new behind the decks. DJW has developed a reputation for doing his homework as expressed with a meticulous track selection and he has consistently gravitated toward an upbeat style steeped in the progressive basslines of original funk with a modern electronic infusion. He is also known to have a taste for subtly uplifting breakdowns containing echoes of that late nineties Bay Area scene from which he emerged. This was a very special Sundaze as we were celebrating his 27th birthday. Enjoy.
